Award season is upon us! The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards is set to air on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sept. 14, 2025, with Nate Bargatze serving as host for the first time. The official Emmy nominations are being unveiled today, with the first two categories already announced. One of those categories is Outstanding Reality Competition Program, and its nominees are already making headlines.

This year's nominees are The Traitors, RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Amazing Race, Survivor and Top Chef. Unfortunately, The Voice didn’t get nominated this year, which comes as a complete surprise. For over a decade, The Voice was a staple in the Emmy nominations lineup, a near-guaranteed contender in the Outstanding Reality Competition Program category. But in a twist no one saw coming, the hit NBC reality show has been completely shut out of the 2025 Emmy race. That means it has lost its shot at winning a fourth Emmy in this category.

The Voice had been nominated for 12 consecutive years, starting in 2012, and took home the Emmy three times during that streak. Its absence this year marks a significant shake-up in the reality competition landscape, suggesting that voters may be gravitating toward fresher formats or breakout hits. I mean, just last award season, we saw The Traitors win this category for its second season.

This year, The Voice got bumped out of the Emmy nominations with Survivor taking its place. This also comes as a surprise, seeing as though Survivor wasn’t even nominated the previous year. Its return highlights how competitive and unpredictable the reality competition category has become

The Voice submitted its twenty-seventh season for Emmy consideration this year. That season saw Michael Bublé, John Legend, Adam Levine, and Kelsea Ballerini as coaches. Adam David would go on to be crowned the winner of the season, securing a music recording contract and a $100,000 cash prize.

The Voice season 28 has already been confirmed and is set to premiere on NBC this fall. The exact premiere date is Monday, Sept. 25, 2025. The only coach to return from last season is Bublé. Joining him on the coaching panel are Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg. All three have been coaches in a previous season. Additionally, Carson Daly returns as host.

With the 2025 Emmy nominations constantly rolling in, we'll keep you updated with the latest announcements. That way, you'll never miss a beat in the awards race. So, stay tuned to GeekSided for now!
