We might have to wait until this fall for the second season of High Potential to return, but ABC’s breakout hit has officially started work on the new season!
On May 23, ABC confirmed that filming has begun on High Potential season 2 with a series of photos shared from the set! In the new behind-the-scenes photos, we see stars Kaitlin Olson, Daniel Sunjata, Judy Reyes, Javicia Leslie, and Deniz Akdeniz posing on location with a clapperboard marking the start of filming on the second season.
While the photos don’t offer up too many spoilers, it does seem that the first episode of the season will lead the team to a car junkyard. We’re not sure what might lead the team to said junkyard, but we imagine it’ll have something to do with the case of the week. Given all key members of the cast are present at the location, we have to wonder if perhaps the car junkyard will be the crime scene for the case they’ll be investigating in the episode, or where the climactic end of the case will lead them.
It is interesting that cameras are already rolling on the second season, as most broadcast shows tend not to begin shooting until July. However, this should mean we might not have to wait as long to start getting some new information about the second season! With cameras rolling, there is a good chance we could see updates coming during the summer months, not only from the network but from the cast as they share updates from the set while filming.
Fans will want to keep an eye on the High Potential Instagram account as well as the accounts of the show’s cast as you never know when a fun tease from the set might be coming our way! What we do know is coming our way is a super-sized second season!
While the show’s first season was only 13 episodes, ABC has ordered five additional episodes for season 2, bringing the show’s episode count to 18 in its sophomore season. This should allow for additional character development as the show gets the chance to dive deeper into the amazing group of characters introduced in the first season amid the usual case of the week investigations.
After becoming the most-watched new show of the year, all eyes are on High Potential heading into its second season, and we can’t wait to see what the writers have in store for us when the show returns this fall on ABC!
