Even though it feels like High Potential season 2 just started, it's already almost time to bid farewell to Morgan, Karadec, and the team... at least until the new year.
Following the airing of High Potential season 2 episode 6 on Tuesday Oct. 21, ABC revealed in the preview for the next episode that the series would be signing off with its midseason break. I know what you're thinking: How is it already time for the fall finale?! Well, season 2 premiered on Sept. 16, so High Potential has gotten a head start on the majority of shows this fall season.
It's also in line with when the first season took a break for midseason. High Potential wrapped up airing new episodes for the year after episode 7 last season, which ended up falling in November after a two-week break. This time around, the hit series will bow out for the year after seven episodes, but there haven't been any breaks yet during season 2's run.
What to expect from the High Potential season 2 fall finale episode
The fall finale airs on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 10/9c on ABC, streaming the next day on Hulu. High Potential season 2 episode 7, which is titled "The One That Got Away," doesn't mark the halfway point of the 18-episode season but does mark the fall finale. Since ABC has branded the episode as such, we shouldn't expect any other new episodes to air in November or December.
Prior to the episode's airdate, ABC has already shared the synopsis and revealed what to expect from the season's biggest episode yet: "When a priceless painting is stolen in a museum heist, Morgan and Karadec team up with an art-recovery expert to unravel a tangled case and fierce ownership battle. Meanwhile, Soto is determined to uncover the secrets hidden inside Roman’s backpack."
Before we bid the High Potential team a brief farewell for the year, it looks as though we're going to continue to piece together more clues from the contents of Roman's backpack. Beyond the latest case of the week, Soto will be looking into the rest of what Morgan discovered in the backpack, especially after the revelation of (spoiler alert!) the drawing of Ava at her first grade dance recital.
If you're wondering when we'll next receive new episodes of High Potential season 2 following the fall finale, unless there's a surprise episodes dropped in the next two months (which doesn't seem likely), we will probably be waiting until sometime in early January. I know, that feels like a long time from now! Last season, the series returned on Jan. 7, which means Jan. 6, 2026 could be the return date.
ABC should reveal premiere dates for 2026 before the end of the year, and we'll be sure to keep TV fans informed with the latest episodes.
