NBC has officially unveiled its schedule for the 2025-2026 TV season, and fans of Grosse Pointe Garden Society were likely quick to take notice with the fact that the show was nowhere to be found anywhere on the calendar. Well, this seems intentional as NBC has not yet made an official decision on the status of Grosse Pointe Garden Society which remains very much in limbo heading into its season 1 finale this Friday, but there is some good news for fans of the drama starring Aja Naomi King, Melissa Fumero, AnnaSophia Robb and Ben Rappaport as a group of suburban garden club members who get caught up in a murder mystery.
Although NBC has not renewed or canceled the show, as Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 2 looks unlikely at the network, there is still hope for a second season! It seems that the freshman drama could very well become one of the rare NBC shows to avoid cancellation by making the jump from NBC to Peacock!
While nothing is official just yet, it seems that discussions are ongoing about Peacock renewing Grosse Pointe Garden Society for a second season and making the show a Peacock Original. According to The Wrap, the fate of Grosse Pointe Garden Society is “still being discussed,” with The Hollywood Reporter noting that the bubble drama may make the jump to Peacock.
A move to Peacock was also hinted at by co-creator Jenna Bans in a recent interview with The Wrap discussing the show’s future, as Bans revealed the show could be returning in an untraditional way.
“We know we have a lot of support at the network and people love it creatively, so we’re just hopeful they’ll find a way to bring us back. It might not be a traditional way, but we’ll see. We have nothing concrete though.”
Of course, nothing is finalized at this point and discussions can fall through, but it’s promising to know that NBC is actively discussing a second season of Grosse Pointe Garden Society – especially after the wave of mass cancellations that came ahead of the network’s upfronts presentation. However, the fact that the show has not been canceled and is reported to have a lot of internal support does bode incredibly well for a second season order.
While the show has not performed well in its linear ratings, it’s reported to have found a strong audience on Peacock which is where many have discovered and fallen in love with the show. A move to the streaming service would make sense and it’s not as though we haven’t seen a show shift from NBC to Peacock, as just last year we saw Law & Order: Organized Crime make the jump to Peacock after four seasons on NBC.
Given Grosse Pointe Garden Society is likely to be taking a path less traveled, it’s unclear when we’ll know the fate of the show. For now, hope for season 2 remains alive and we’re optimistic the show will return for another season if it makes the move from NBC to Peacock.
