Every NBC show renewed for the 2025 TV season

As of May 5, only six NBC shows have been renewed for the 2025-26 TV season with NBC taking longer than usual to determine the future of many of its shows.

NBC’s first renewals of the season went to the network’s new comedies Happy’s Place and St. Denis Medical. It’s not uncommon for new series to be among some of the first renewals of the season, as networks tend to like to bet big on their new shows by handing out early renewals as a vote of confidence in the series. This was the case for NBC’s two new comedies, with Happy’s Place and St. Denis Medical both opening strong leading to their early renewals.

It’s also good news for The Voice, which will be coming back for season 27 as part of the 2025-26 season! The Voice coming back isn’t shocking at all as the show remains one of NBC’s top programs and is a mainstay on the schedule. In announcing the show’s renewal, NBC also revealed that Snoop Dogg will be returning as part of the coaching roundup after sitting out season 26. As for who will be joining him? Well, that remains to be announced, but we’re excited to see who will round out the coach lineup.

NBC has also handed out renewals to its three One Chicago shows, with Chicago Fire renewed for season 14, Chicago Med renewed for season 11, and Chicago PD renewed for season 13! Given that One Chicago shows remain NBC's most-watched primetime originals and also perform incredibly well on Peacock, it's not surprising at all that NBC is bringing the shows back for the 2025-26 season. The only thing surprising is that it took NBC so long to hand out the renewals!

To recap, here’s the list of renewed NBC shows:

  • Chicago Fire
  • Chicago Med
  • Chicago PD
  • Happy’s Place
  • St. Denis Medical
  • The Voice

Most NBC shows are waiting to be renewed

Surprisingly, NBC has only renewed a few shows this year, falling behind the rest of the broadcast networks, such as CBS and ABC. Most shows usually learn their fate before May even rolls around; however, that has not been the case for NBC shows this year.

NBC has left the fate of the large majority of NBC’s primetime slate in limbo. In total, 10 of NBC’s 16 primetime series are waiting to learn their fates with the following shows still unrenewed:

  • Brilliant Minds
  • Found
  • Grosse Point Garden Society
  • Law & Order
  • Law & Order: SVU
  • Lopez vs Lopez
  • Night Court
  • Suits LA
  • The Hunting Party
  • The Irrational

Of these shows, it seems safe to assume that the Law & Order franchise shows will be coming back next season, and we’d honestly be surprised if any of the Law & Order shows were canceled. It also seems likely that NBC will bring Night Court back as the show continues to perform well for the network, despite many cast changes in its three brief seasons.

The shows we’re most concerned about are some of the season’s many newcomers with Brilliant Minds, Grosse Point Garden Society, The Hunting Party, and Suits LA all in limbo. Of this bunch, Brilliant Minds likely has the best chance of securing another season, but truly we could see NBC parting with some of these newer dramas which didn’t take off as the network likely hoped.

That leaves us with Found, The Irrational, and Lopez vs Lopez. Of this trio, it feels like things could go either way with the trio. Lopez vs Lopez has been on the bubble every year and with its ratings, it wouldn’t be a shock to see the show finally canceled. Found is honestly too close for us to call, and we are fearful The Irrational might not live to make it to season 3 – though perhaps NBC will feel otherwise given their history in working with Jesse Martin.

We’ll continue to update this post as decisions are made and we should begin to see NBC making moves soon with the network slated to present its schedule during its upfronts presentation on May 12.
