There are plenty of returning faces in Ghosts season 5. One of those is an unexpected return of a spirit, which is sure to cause trouble for everyone else.

Well, okay, maybe it’s not completely unexpected. We knew that a spirit would need to return at some point considering a lie that has been told, but it doesn’t mean that we fully expected it to happen so early in the season.

“Alexander Hamilton and the Ruffle Kerfuffle” – When Jay becomes obsessed with the success of a fellow chef, Isaac serves up a cautionary tale about his own rivalry with Alexander Hamilton (Nat Faxon). Also, Elias Woodstone (Matt Walsh) returns from hell with a limited-time offer for the ghosts, on the CBS Original series GHOSTS, Thursday, Feb. 27 (8:31-9:01 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on

Chris is back in Ghosts season 5

There’s some exciting news for those who were looking forward to seeing Chris, the stripper who ended up dying on Woodstone land when his parachute failed to open. He quickly took to being a ghost, and it didn’t take too long for him to work out his ghost power.

He can leave the property, but it’s only for as long as he’s in the air with his parachute. If he touches the ground, then he comes back to Woodstone Manor. It’s a pretty nifty power, but it also pointed out that Chris was sure to return eventually.

Now if only Isaac had thought things through when he decided to tell Nigel a lie. Jealous that Chris seemed interested in his former fiancé but also feeling back for Nigel, Isaac decided to tell Nigel that Chris had been sucked off rather than that he chose to leave the property.

Well, co-showrunner Joe Wiseman tells TVLine that Chris will return in Ghosts season 5. He even shares a few details.

“Isaac told Nigel that he got sucked off even though Chris chose to leave after having a moment with Nigel, and Nigel mentioned in that episode, ‘Oh, we can bring him back at Halloween,’ so that’s going to come back to roost.”

The Devil Went Down to Woodstone
“The Devil Went Down to Woodstone” – Sam and Jay host a big party for the launch of Sam and Isaac’s vampire book, on the fourth season finale of CBS Original series GHOSTS, Thursday, May 8 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. Isaac’s lies are sure to come out

This is sure to mean that Isaac’s lies will come out in Ghosts season 5, and it’s sure to happen at Halloween. Nigel did say that at least he’d be able to bring Chris back at Halloween, as we know that séances can bring the spirits back temporarily. Well, of course, Nigel is going to try, and this is where it’s sure to go wrong.

The question is how that’s going to happen, since he can’t be brought back via a séance. Will the séance end up pulling him back to Woodstone Manor, somehow? Or will it do something to him that forces him to land so that he’s brought back?

Whatever it is, the truth is about to come out. The question then is whether Nigel sees Isaac’s lie as one of jealousy or one of care.

Ghosts season 5 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.
