At long last, the teases of things to come in the Ghosts season 5 premiere are here. While we have to wait until October to watch the episodes, we’re getting even more excited about it based on the synopsis for the episode.
Ghosts season 4 left us with a major cliffhanger. Elias revealed that Jay signed a contract that would give him Jay’s soul. Of course, Jay hadn’t read the full contract, believing that he was entering into a legitimate business deal, but a deal is a deal, right? Especially when it comes to the devil.
Naturally, the Ghosts season 5 premiere is going to focus a lot on getting Jay out of his deal—is it even possible in one episode?—but there are a couple of other storylines happening. One of those involves Patience and an unlikely team up.

Patience gets help from an unlikely source in Ghosts season 5
Mary Holland is back as Patience, which some teases from behind-the-scenes told us would happen. She appeared in the season 4 finale, making it clear to everyone that evil was on its way. What she didn’t realize was that she was right, but not in the sense that she believed.
That evil was Elias, and she hadn’t figured that out right away. It seems to have led to a crisis of confidence in her abilities, and she needs help to deal with that.
Who better to help her than Isaac? This man has been through some of his own crises over the seasons, so he’s perfect to help Patience get through this one. However, it’s an unlikely team up considering the way Patience was introduced. Remember that Isaac was the one who sneezed and let go of Patience’s hand in the dirt, leaving Patience behind.
We saw Patience get Isaac in the Ghosts season 3 finale and enact her revenge, but in the end, she decided against it and went to live in Woodstone Manor with the other ghosts for a while. That was until she decided to go back to the dirt where she felt more at home. Despite some forgiveness for Isaac, we still didn’t expect him to help her with her personal issues, though!

Other happenings in the Ghosts season 5 premiere
The premiere isn’t just focused on Patience and Isaac, though. As well as them and getting Jay out of his deal with Elias, we know that there will be some time spent with Pete and Alberta.
At the end of season 4, Pete and Alberta kissed. Finally, Alberta saw something in Pete that she hadn’t before, and now she has feelings for him. The two will need to navigate what all this means for them moving forward. Will it lead to tension in the house?
Take a look at the full synopsis for the Ghosts season 5 premiere:
“Sam, Jay and the ghosts attempt to extricate Jay from his deal with Elias Woodstone (Matt Walsh), the devil. Also, Isaac helps Patience (Mary Holland) through a crisis of confidence and Pete and Alberta navigate the fallout from their kiss.”
Ghosts season 5 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.
