Fox apparently was tired of its fellow broadcast networks having all the renewal fun. The network has handed out its first renewal of the new year, and it’s going big with the renewal!
In its first major renewal of 2026, Fox has given out a two-season renewal to the Rob Lowe-hosted primetime game show The Floor. The renewal was first reported by The Ankler, who revealed that Fox has picked up another two seasons of the show, keeping The Floor on through season 7.
"From day one, The Floor has fit the very definition of Fox's bold, high-energy approach to entertainment, becoming a true fan favorite and TV's No. 1 game show," Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn told The Ankler in a statement announcing the renewal.
The Floor debuted in 2024 and has quickly become a staple on Fox, and that won’t be changing anytime soon, it seems. The trivia competition series sees contestants battle head-to-head on a giant game board, taking over categories by winning duels until one player controls the floor and wins the cash prize.
Since its debut, Fox has aired two seasons annually, with one season in the fall and a second in the spring. Season 4 debuted as part of Fox’s fall lineup, but a premiere date has not yet been set for the show’s fifth season, though it’s expected the season will premiere sometime in late February or early March. Season 6 is then expected to release in Fall 2026 and season 7 in Spring 2027.
The news comes days after reports broke that Fox was looking to hand out renewals to many of its hit shows, so it’s quite possible that The Floor’s renewal will be the start of many renewals from the network in the weeks ahead.
Scripted dramas Doc, Murder in a Small Town, Best Medicine, and Memory of a Killer are all expected to secure renewals, with Fox reported to be quite pleased with the four shows’ performance. Things seem to be looking good for Fear Factor: House of Fear as well. This is on top of the renewals that have already been handed out to many of its hit animated series which are under multi-season orders at the network.
With the 2025-26 TV season halfway through, we should begin to see networks continuing to make decisions about the futures of their current lineups. Thankfully, it appears that most Fox shows are looking good for renewals, hinting we might not have to say goodbye to too many favorites this year. That's not to say we might not see some surprise cancellations this year, but the early indications seem to be that Fox is relatively happy with its programming slate.
