Amelia needs support going into Grey’s Anatomy season 22, episode 2, and we know Meredith is going to be one of those who offers that. But, she’s not the only one.
The Grey’s Anatomy season 22 premiere delivered a powerful blow. As many worried about the fate of Link, it was easy to overlook Beltran, who was stuck underneath machines after the blast on the OR floor. It meant that Jules had to do her first solo surgery, with Beltran talking her through it and keeping her as calm as possible.
The calmness Beltran offered was a clear sign that she knew she wasn’t going to make it. She held on until she knew that the young patient was out of the woods, and then died in silence. It’s a heartbreaking loss for many, especially Jules and Amelia.

Amelia gets support from both her sisters in Grey’s Anatomy
We already knew that Meredith would be there for Amelia in her grief in Grey’s Anatomy season 22, episode 2. This was teased in the synopsis for the episode, which still had us concerned that Link would die. If you know me, though, you know that I believed Link was a red herring and suspected that Beltran might be one to die instead.
Meredith isn’t going to be the only one to be there for Amelia. Maggie is flying in from Chicago to be with her sister, marking Kelly McCreary’s return to the show after being a series regular.
No, Maggie isn’t going to be back permanently, by the looks of things, but it makes sense for her to return to support Amelia, as the three sisters (okay, not blood sisters, but they viewed each other as sisters) were there for each other over the years when they lived together.
Amelia isn’t ready to see anyone, though. She’s taking this loss hard. To be honest, it’s harder than what I would have expected, considering there wasn’t that much of a connection between them over the time that Beltran was on the series, but it is what it is.
Link isn’t the best patient in the world
Meanwhile, we’ll get to see Link struggle with rehab. He wants to get better as fast as he can. We’ve often seen that the doctors make the worst patients in Grey’s Anatomy, and this is likely to continue. Link wants to get back to work, and he wants to get back home.
Jo is understandably worried, and this is sure to get worse before it gets better. With Link’s backstory of fighting lukemia, it’s not too surprising that he doesn’t want to be stuck in the hospital for too long, but he needs to give himself time to recover. It was a hard surgery.
Grey’s Anatomy airs on Thursdays at 10/9c on ABC.
