If there's one thing that we can count on every year, it's that the clocks will fall back (and spring forward) and that when there's the first hint of a chill in the air, it's time to rewatch Gilmore Girls. The beloved series celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025, but there's an even more exciting time still to come for fans of the series.

Don't get too excited because there's still no word on the gang getting back together for another round of adventures in Stars Hollow. However, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and series star Lauren Graham have announced an unexpected collaboration that's everything we have ever wanted. The pair are co-authoring a book about Gilmore Girls.

The as-yet-untitled book is currently slated to be released in fall 2027 by Celadon Books. Graham and Sherman-Palladino's book collaboration appears to be in the early stages of development, which is why we will be waiting well over a year after the announcement to dive into its pages. But all good things are worth the wait, and this book will surely be one of them.

According to early details about the book, Graham and Sherman-Palladino will share behind the scenes stories they never have before about their time working together for seven seasons of Gilmore Girls and its revival. They will shine a light on their creative partnership that brought Lorelai Gilmore to life as one of the most memorable television characters of all time.

Celadon Books and Flatiron Books president and publisher Deb Futter celebrated the pair's partnership and said about the book, "This is THE book Gilmore Girls fans have been waiting for — and that is saying a lot. Lauren and Amy are television legends and their stories, which have not been shared before, are what TV lore is made of."

Graham also released a statement expressing that she's "thrilled collaborate with Amy," while Sherman-Palladino released her own humorous statement about working with her old pal again: "I will jump at any chance to collaborate with Lauren Graham. On anything. Be it a boozy broads lunch at Joe Allen’s, or writing an actual book, the answer will always be ‘yes.’ I find myself wanting to be permanently linked to her side forever. Not sure it’s healthy, for either of us, but it’s just the reality of the situation."

The new Gilmore Girls book comes on the heels of the unofficial documentary Drink Coffee, Talk Fast grabbed headlines for snagging interviews with many of the show's cast members. Sherman-Palladino, Graham, and Alexis Bledel notably didn't participate in the documentary. Graham opened up about not speaking to the filmmakers, admitting she would only do so with her creator.

Perhaps the book is their answer to the documentary or simply their own way of cementing the legacy of the iconic television show they created together in front of and behind the camera. Graham has previously written the excellent novel Someday, Someday, Maybe as well as three nonfiction books, including a memoir that tackled a few Gilmore-centric stories.

As stated before, it's going to be a long wait until Graham and Sherman-Palladino published their book in fall 2027, but all good things take time. Just imagine two years from now being cozy reading the book and rewatching the show. And who knows, maybe working together again will spark some ideas about another revival or that long-suggested Christmas movie.
