When it comes to Elsbeth, the hit CBS crime drama known for its star-studded “killer-of-the-week” episodes, the casting team is always on the lookout for big names to headline each mystery in the series. Now, the show’s casting director has revealed an exciting addition to their wish list. They would like to land a beloved Star Wars actor for a guest role on the show's upcoming third season.
Elsbeth was created by Robert King and Michelle King and serves as a spinoff to The Good Wife and The Good Fight. Carrie Preston stars in the series as Elsbeth Tascioni, a quirky yet brilliant attorney who uses her unconventional methods and sharp intuition to assist the NYPD in cracking complex murder cases that often leave others stumped.
Each episode follows a unique format where the audience sees the crime and the suspect upfront, before Elsbeth dives into the investigation, using her keen insight and relentless determination to uncover the truth behind the mystery.
Over the two seasons that have been released so far, the show has featured many celebrity guest stars playing the role of "killers." In season 2, well-known actors such as Nathan Lane, Pamela Adlon, Mary-Louise Parker, Laurie Metcalf, Alyssa Milano, Vanessa Williams, Matthew Broderick, David Alan Grier, Michael Emerson, and Tracey Ullman all took turns playing memorable antagonists.
Elsbeth casting director Findley Davidson now says he'd like to add even more star power by bringing in three-time Emmy Award winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge to join the show’s impressive roster of guest stars. He shared with Variety that he thinks she would bring something new and different compared to the guest stars featured in previous seasons.

Honestly, who wouldn't want to see Waller-Bridge playing a killer in this crime drama series? She's such a talented actress that we're sure she'd make her guest appearance absolutely unforgettable if the casting team managed to bring her on board. However, we also know she's a very busy woman with multiple projects and commitments. So, securing her for the role might be a challenge.
The good news is that Davidson said that the guest stars on the show usually only film for about 10 days. That said, the shorter filming schedule could make it more feasible for Waller-Bridge to fit Elsbeth into her busy calendar. That's if she even wants to take on the role. We can only hope!
Besides voicing L3-37 in the space Western film Solo: A Star Wars Story, Waller-Bridge is also known for starring in TV shows such as Broadchurch, Crashing and Fleabag. She also voiced the role of Blossom in the fantasy comedy film IF. We'll see her next in an upcoming romantic fantasy movie titled A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which will be released in theaters on Sept. 19, 2025.
