As we learned in the sneak peek for Destination X season 1, episode 8, there wouldn’t be a trip to the Map Room to drop an X. However, there was still an elimination coming at the end of the episode.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Destination X season 1, episode 8.

Up to this point, Destination X has taken the contestants (and us) to various cities and countries across Europe. At the end of episode 7, we ended up back in Italy, and this time to Venice. That’s where the Top 5 remained, giving them a chance to explore the city that doesn’t allow any vehicles.

What’s the nature of the game in Destination X season 1, episode 8?

The new episode opened with Jeffrey Dean Morgan telling the group that they wouldn’t be dropping the X. They got to remain in Venice, where the game continued.

It all started with a ghostly gondola ride, where the five had to memorize a series of 10 masks. They then needed to pick two out of 20 each that they thought they saw. With each correct mask, the would get a dagger, and all five ended up getting two daggers each.

With the change of the games, the alliances had to change. Peter and Rick managed to recruit Biggy to their alliance, with him thinking that it would grant him a chance ahead of the Top 3. Morgan did tell them all to remember who their friends were, and it looks like all of that is shifting.

It then came down to dinner, where they all had their daggers, and they got to use those to choose the player (or players) they could put up for elimination. This was all done in secret, so nobody knew who they could or couldn’t trust. The three with the most daggers would head to the Garden of Lost Souls to battle it out to see who would go home.

Who was eliminated in Destination X season 1, episode 8?

Ally placed two of her daggers on Rick and one on Peter; Peter opted for one on Ally and two on Biggy; Rick chose one for Ally and two for Shayne; Biggy opted for one on Rick, one on Ally, and one on Shayne; Shayne put one on Peter and two on Rick.

This meant Rick had four daggers, Shyane, Peter, and Ally had three daggers each, and Biggy only ended up with two daggers. With only three heading to the Garden of Lost Souls, which of the other two would head there? Only Biggy was safe, and he got to choose between the three of them. Would he pick his new alliance and place both Shayne and Ally in the Garden or would he send just one of them with Peter?

In the end, he stuck with his original alliance with Shayne, repaying Shayne for choosing him with the vase a few episodes earlier.

The three had a table of Tarot cards with a landmark, and the goal was to not pick the card with the location the furthest away from Venice. Of course, with Rick and Peter there and having some power, it did give them a chance to force Ally out. It ended down to Rick getting the choice of the last two cards, and if he got a heart, he’d get to choose who to send home.

Sure enough, he guessed The Raven Tower (London) was closer to Venice than The Emerald Isle (Ireland). It wasn’t surprising to see him have Ally turn over the death card. Poor Ally was sent out, and not because she got the wrong location on the map.

And now Destination X is down to four. Rick and Peter did get to see a golden clue card with an anchor, offering a hint at the next destination, and they’re sure not to tell anybody else.

Destination X airs on Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
