10 contestants are on a mission to win $250,000 while traveling Europe. All they have to do in Destination X is figure out where the X they are. And we get to play along with them.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Destination X season 1, episode 1
The new series is hosted by Jeffrey Dean Morgan of The Walking Dead, Grey’s Anatomy, and Supernatural fame. He takes the contestants to different locations around Europe, with each episode taking them to a different country. Throughout the episode, clues were revealed to give them an idea of where they are, some involving history, some involving pop culture, and some of them geographic.
At the end, some of them have to go to Jeffrey’s Map Room, where they have to mark an X on the map to say where they are. This isn’t just about saying which country they’re in, but also which city they’re in.
Figuring out the clues in Destination X
The first part of the episode saw the 10 go up against each other to throw luggage into crates. Each luggage had a tag with a clue to work out where that luggage was supposed to go, and the contestants had to put the luggage into the right country crate. The one with the highest number of correct luggage tags would get a special clue for the first location.
Two of the players, Ally and Mack, worked out the best way to secure a win, and they teamed up after that. However, they soon found themselves on opposite teams as leader of those two teams to find more clues to figure out the location.
This is where it got even more interesting. There were five coins to collect around the location, and each coin would represent a vote for the team to pick someone else from the other team to go to the Map Room. Those who didn’t have to go to the Map Room were confirmed safe for the episode, with the person who was the furthest away on the map would end up going home.

Who was eliminated in the Destination X series premiere?
Sadly, even though it’s just the first episode, we had to say goodbye to a contestant. Five went to the Map Room to place where they thought they were: Tai, Josh, Rachel, Biggy, and Shayne ended up having to go into the room to put their Xs on the map.
Tai, Biggy, and Shayne all went for Rome, Italy. Rachel, who was the only part of Mack’s team to go into the map room, thought about Milan, which was the location the entire group believed they were in. However, Rachel allowed the other team to get into her head, and she chose a middle location between Rome and Milan.
Josh was originally going to go with Rome like the rest of his team, but then he changed his mind at the last minute. He listened to Mack’s team and went for Milan, and that’s what cost him his place in the series. Since Rachel was just a little bit closer to Rome, which was the correct answer, she was just safe.
Rather than accept that he just chose to listen to the wrong people, he put the blame on one person in particular. He blamed Rick, saying that Rick was playing a good game manipulating people into changing their mind. What Josh doesn’t realize is that Rachel was also “manipulated” by Ally’s team into getting closer to Rome, otherwise it could have been a much closer call between the two of them.
Destination X airs on Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
