ABC's Dancing With the Stars judge, Derek Hough, will soon be expanding his hosting duties. The syndicated entertainment news show Extra has recruited him as the host for its upcoming Season 32. Hough will replace longtime correspondent Billy Bush, who has been with the show since 2008.

Season 32 of Extra will premiere on September 8 across multiple networks. The best way to find out when the news program will air in your region is to check the official listing on its website. Fans can also expect exciting and thrilling new updates in the new season, along with segments centered around Hough.

What will Hough bring to the Extra table, aside from his role as host? He hopes to add to the show's curriculum by presenting the latest Hollywood news in a fresh light to viewers and the company. The seasoned dancer is looking forward to this new phase in his career and can't wait to put down his roots.

In a recent press release obtained by GeekSided, Hough expressed his anticipation of joining the Extra team.

"The ballroom has been my stage, my home, and my launchpad. Now, I’m stepping into an exciting new spotlight as the host of Extra. I’m truly looking forward to collaborating with this incredible team, diving into this next creative chapter, and connecting with fans and audiences in a whole new way. It’s an honor to join a show that’s been a cornerstone of entertainment news for over 30 years — and I’m ready to help lead it into a bold, fresh new era for Season 32 and beyond."

When someone is signed on to a new show or project, it usually indicates that they'll be leaving their previous job. The same logic applies to Hough, who naturally has us concerned because if he were to leave Dancing With the Stars, the reality competition wouldn't be the same. He has been a part of the long-running ABC show since its fourth season, back in 2007. He began as a partnering dancer with the celebrities, then was promoted to a judge for season 29. Additionally, he'll continue to perform dances throughout episodes and provide his expertise on the craft.

Fans and viewers can take a collective sigh of relief, as Hough will not be leaving DWTS. He'll continue his role as judge for season 33, premiering live on ABC on September 16 and Disney+.
