Dancing With the Stars is trying hard to recruit a Twilight legend to compete for the coveted Mirror Ball trophy. While many of the contestants are in the entertainment industry, season 34 could very well see the Twilight hopeful. If they do, this would be the first time in DWTS history to have a member of the beloved supernatural franchise.
According to The US Sun, the Twilight star on ABC's radar is Taylor Lautner, who portrayed the hunky and buff werewolf Jacob Black in all five films. During the franchise's run from 2008 to 2012, Lautner's fame skyrocketed. The Michigan native was only in his late teens to his early twenties, but quickly became a teen heartthrob.
An "insider" to the ABC reality/competition show spilled to the outlet that Lautner could be hitting the dance floor with his fellow celebrities, vying for the trophy. Yet, the choice of recruiting the actor hasn't been officially confirmed for season 34.
“Taylor is one of the top people they want for this next season. They're in talks with it now and finalizing everything."
However, the DWTS producers are not just focused on Lautner, but also his wife, Tay Dome, who has been married to him since 2022. She's a nurse and social media influencer who hosts a podcast called The Squeeze, which centers on combating mental health issues and health stigma. She's a major fan of the show, and we can agree, as it's filled with a carefree effervescence.
It seems like a two-for-one deal, and if Lautner is on board, then Tay is a must. The insider further elaborated that the Twilight alum and his wife are a "power couple" due to their humanitarian advocacy. Tay might not be as big a star as her husband, but she's famous in her own right for helping others through her personal struggles.
“There’s a chance his wife, Tay, could join too, since they've become such a public figure as a duo with their podcast and wellness company [Lemons by Tay]."
With Lautner's athleticism and being a favorite among Twilight fans, he's a natural element for the ballroom. Tay is still a possibility and has gotten some insight from the DWTS dancers. Learning the ropes before slipping into the dance heels is a step in the right direction and shows passion for being a contestant.
“Taylor is the focus, though, with his background and stunt experience, he'd be a force on the ballroom, but the [producers] are interested in both Taylor and Tay. [Lautner's] wholesome and young with a great attitude, but is also very athletic and ripped. He's the full package; he'd be a great [addition] if they can close the deal. [Tay's] beloved too and has become close with some of the pro dancers, so it's a nice fit."
If Lautner does decide to go on DWTS, it'll be because he'll be supporting Tay, as it's "been her dream" to appear on it. And like any supportive husband, he'll go along for the ride, no matter what.
“It's been her dream to do the show for years, so Taylor is more [than] agreeing to go along with it to help make Tay's dream come true."
Dancing with the Stars season 34 will air this fall on ABC, with Julianna Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro returning as the hosts, and with Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli returning as judges.
