This post contains spoilers from Chicago Med season 11 episode 6 from this point forward.
Jumping off from the cliffhanger in the previous episode, we could be in for some heartbreak in Chicago Med season 11 episode 6. Last week, Goodwin's ex-husband Bert was having a rough time, and she felt guilty for snapping at him. She later returned to his assisted living facility when he had a significant fall. There's a chance that we could be saying goodbye to Bert soon.
Beyond the possibility of a character being killed off in the latest episode, Chicago Med also teased some sparks flying for Frost, possibly between Howard or Chicago Fire's Novak or even a patient's mother. While Frost will be getting his first love interest, he'll also be working with Ripley with young patients stung by hornets. Lenox will also be taking on a patient who looks quite familiar.
Will Bert survive the episode? Does Frost find himself with a date or two? Are any of our favorite doctors missing from the episode? Let's take a closer look at everything that goes down in Chicago Med season 11 episode 6 with a recap!

Will Bert survive his fall in Chicago Med season 11 episode 6?
Rather than picking up where last week left off, Chicago Med opens with a home video of Goodwin and Bert and their children in 1995. The happier memories fade into reality with Goodwin and her kids Michael, Tara, and David by Bert's side at the hospital. Meanwhile, Frost cares for a young girl named Maisy, and her mother recognizes him from his TV show. She asks him if he still has "those sweet abs," which is objectively a weird thing to say to a stranger at their workplace.
After that awkward encounter, Frost and Howard share a laugh over it, and he asks her out to dinner. She shuts him down because they work together, which makes the situation even more awkward. Mikami and Novak from Fire arrive with patients Adrian and Lexie who were attacked by hornets. Adrian has quite the crush on Lexie. Archer has taken on Bert's case and informs the family what the care plan is, or lack thereof, which David isn't on board with.
Keeping the awkwardness flowing, Asher mets Sadie and Amelia... who calls Ripley "daddy" and throws everyone for a loop. Lenox and Howard tend to a man named Jabo (Outer Banks actor Charles Halford) who cut his radial artery and is spewing blood. He has a lot of tattoos and offers why he has them to Lenox. When Frost asks Mikami and Novak about Lexie's pet rabbit, there's some obvious chemistry between him and Novak, but he doesn't ask her out quite yet.
For some reason, Asher and Sadie share a smoothie and an honest conversation in Sadie's car. Turns out Sadie has been having issues with her leg prosthetic, but she hasn't told Ripley out of fear that we will go overboard to fix the situation. Lenox learns that Jabo has anemia and he will need a transfusion. He asks if grief over the loss of his wife could cause his anemia. She doesn't believe that's the cause and also seeks to run a hepatitis panel just in case.

Does Frost ask out Naomi or Novak?
Goodwin's family argues in her office over the course of action for Bert. Michael and Tara want to respect their dad's DNR, while David wants to keep their father alive. He drops a bomb on them saying that it's "different" for him. He admits that Bert isn't his biological father. Well, that's an unexpected twist we didn't see coming! Goodwin explains that she was pregnant with David when she met Bert. Things didn't work out with David's father, but Bert stepped up right away.
They told David the truth when he was 12, but they decided to keep the truth from Michael and Tara since it was David's truth to tell. Clearly, the truth had been weighing on David and making him feel like an outsider in his family. Back in the hospital, Frost explains to Adrian that hitting the hornet's nest allowed them to find the cyst in Lexie's brain and saved her life. Jabo pushes Lenox to explain the ring on her necklace and suggests that she gets a tattoo to help with the pain she's carrying.
While he's talking, Jabo passes out and is rushed into surgery. Lenox and Howard try to figure out the cause of his pulmonary embolism and discover heavy metal posioning on his foot. Lenox heads to the treehouse to find Lexie's bunny and finds Novak there already looking. As they wait for the bunny, Frost and Novak talk and hit it off. Howard asks Asher for advice about turning down Frost. She worries that she will be defined by who she dates at the hospital more than her work.
Goodwin appeals to David and clears the air with him, helping her son come to the realization that the best thing he can do for his father right now is say goodbye. Lexie survives her surgery and immediately asks about Adrian. He arrives at her bedside with her bunny on his lap. The best friends seem to be finding young love. Lenox reveals to Jabo that he has arsenic poisoning from well water at his cabin, which also could have killed his wife.
Sadie finally opens up to Ripley about what she's going through. He proposes moving in together and putting her on his insurance as a domestic partner. She tells him to stop trying to save her. He hits her with an "I love you," but instead she dumps him. Lenox takes Jabo's advice. She takes off her necklace and reveals a tattoo on her side. Howard seems ready to ask Frost out but sees him talking to Novak. As the episode ends, the family gathers beside Bert as he dies.
Chicago Med airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC, streaming next day on Peacock.
