Change is in the air in the Windy City and Chicago Fire fans are about to witness one of the most turbulent seasons the show has seen in some time!
After a season that saw little change to the core cast, Chicago Fire season 14 will feature the highest number of cast exits we’ve seen over the course of the show’s run. It all began with a pair of cast exits announced ahead of the season 13 finale, and the cast shakeups only continued to come fast and hard during the span of the summer break.
When Chicago Fire season 14 arrives this October, fans can expect a lot of changes to come to Firehouse 51, but they can also look forward to the returns of many of their favorite characters as well!

Chicago Fire cast exits
Let’s start with the bad news: Who’s leaving Chicago Fire?
Heading into the season, it was confirmed that three key members of the cast are exiting the show: Daniel Kyri, Jake Lockett, and Michael Bradway.
Kyri and Lockett’s exits from Chicago Fire were confirmed ahead of the season 13 finale as part of budget cuts heading into season 14. The season 13 finale laid the groundwork for Lockett’s exit as Sam Carver when we learned he had decided to leave Chicago and move to Denver. It’s expected that the finale was Carver’s final episode and that we won’t see him back in any capacity in season 14.
As for Kyri, fans will get the chance to see Darren Ritter get a proper send-off on the show. While Kyri is exiting the series after seven seasons, he returned for a limited time in season 14 to help give his character an on-screen send-off. It’s unclear how many episodes Ritter will appear in, but it’s better than seeing Ritter being written out of the show off-screen.
Sadly, an off-screen exit is likely coming for Bradway’s character, Jack Damon. Over the summer, Bradway joined the cast of Prime Video’s new series Every Summer After. In doing so, he officially exited the cast of Chicago Fire which means we’re likely going to see Damon written out of the show within the season premiere with a quick update explaining away his absence. The good news is that the door is going to be left open for him to return, but we likely won’t see him back until the later part of the season.

Chicago Fire season 14 cast
Although there will be some cast changes with a few beloved characters leaving the show, Chicago Fire season 14 will see the return of the majority of the cast.
All of the show’s remaining original cast members will be back for the season, with no original stars slated to exit the season at this time. Returning for their fourteenth season on the show are Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, Joe Minoso, Christian Stolte, Randy Flagler, and Anthony Ferraris. We’ll also see the returns of longtime cast members Miranda Rae Mayo and Hanako Greensmith.
In addition to the show’s veteran stars, we’ll also see the return of Jocelyn Hudon and Dermot Mulroney. Hudon joined the cast in season 12 before being upped to a series regular in season 13, while Mulroney joined the cast in season 13 as the new captain of Firehouse 51. Although it at first seemed like Mulroney would only be sticking around for a season, he’s looking to become a permanent fixture on the show!
Season 14 will also introduce fans to a few new faces! The biggest addition to the cast is Brandon Larracuente, who is joining the show as 51's newest firefighter, Sal Vasquez. Little is known about Sal, but we do know he's going to be joining Truck 81 and working alongside Kidd as Carver's replacement. We'll also see Annabeth Gish join the show in the role of Annette Davis, the mayor's chief of staff, a character who is about to make life a bit difficult for Chief Pascal.
Here’s a look at the complete cast for season 14:
- Taylor Kinney as Lieutenant Kelly Severide
- David Eigenberg as Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann
- Miranda Rae Mayo as Lieutenant Stella Kidd
- Joe Minoso as Joe Cruz
- Christian Stolte as Randall "Mouch" McHolland
- Randy Flagler as Capp
- Anthony Ferraris as Tony
- Hanako Greensmith as Violet Mikami
- Jocelyn Hudon as Lyla Novak
- Dermot Mulroney as Chief Dom Pascal
- Brandon Larracuente as Sal Vasquez
In addition to the series regular cast, we'll likely see a few familiar faces pop up across the season such as Katelynn Shennett (Kylie Estevez) and Tim Hopper (Captain Tom Van Meter), who have been known to pop up via guest and recurring arcs on the show.
