NBC rolled out a tough round of cancellations in May 2025, dropping multiple shows including The Irrational, Suits LA, Lopez vs. Lopez, Found and Night Court. However, some of the series just listed aren’t going down without a fight. One comedy in particular is still being shopped around in hopes of securing a second chance elsewhere. That show is Night Court.

According to TVLine's Chief Content Officer Matt Webb Mitovich, an inside source has revealed to him that Night Court is still actively seeking a new home following its cancellation. While this would be considered good news for fans hoping for a revival, Mitovich also revealed that efforts to find a new platform have so far struggled to gain traction.

"Early efforts to shop the sitcom revival, which was cancelled after three seasons on NBC, have thus far come up empty, I am told, so the eventual verdict is looking… not great." - Matt Webb Mitovich

This makes the show’s chances of returning increasingly uncertain. It also doesn't help that we're almost a month out from the announcement of its cancellation, and there have still been no positive updates on the show's fate. The longer the silence continues, the slimmer the hope becomes that Night Court will find a second life anywhere else. Truthfully, it would be a real shame to see a show with so much potential fade away without getting the opportunity to continue entertaining its dedicated fans.

For three seasons, the comedy has brought laughter to audiences tuning in each week. The fact that it has been left in limbo, with no clear future in sight, is disheartening for both its loyal fans and those who saw its potential to grow even further.

We're hoping that this isn't the end of the road for Night Court, and that another network or streaming service recognizes its value and steps in to give it another shot. Netflix is not usually known for picking up sitcoms. The only known sitcom that the streaming giant has picked up in the past is Arrested Development. But who's to say lightning can't strike twice and the streaming giant swoops in to rescue Night Court from cancellation? There's a chance! But for right now, fans will have to wait patiently and hope that negotiations gain momentum soon.

Night Court was created by Reinhold Weege. The comedy sitcom had a series run of three seasons on NBC before the network decided to cancel it due to low ratings. Additionally, it's a revival of the iconic '80s sitcom of the same name that aired on NBC from 1984 to 1992.

The show centers around Judge Abby Stone, the daughter of the original series’ beloved Judge Harry Stone. Abby takes over the night shift at a Manhattan arraignment court and finds herself handling a variety of unusual and unpredictable cases while overseeing a colorful and diverse team of courtroom staff. Melissa Rauch stars as the main character, Abby Stone. Also in the cast are India de Beaufort, Kapil Talwalkar, Lacretta, John Larroquette, Nyambi Nyambi, Wendie Malick, and many others.
