Time has flown right on by! The past two months have been pretty tough for TV fans, with all the big networks making major shakeups, such as canceling beloved shows, greenlighting new series, and reshaping their lineups. One of the most heartbreaking cancellations was the Fox drama The Cleaning Lady, which ended abruptly after four seasons. Declining viewership and ratings are believed to have been the reason for its cancellation.

Fox announced on June 6 that it would not be picking up the series for a new season, and fans have been holding onto hope for a possible revival or streaming pickup ever since. With streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu known for rescuing canceled shows and giving them a second chance, many hoped The Cleaning Lady might find a new home on one of these platforms.

For example, the urban fantasy series Lucifer aired on Fox for three seasons before the network axed it. Fortunately, Netflix stepped in to pick up the show, giving it several more seasons and allowing fans to enjoy the story’s full arc. Another example is The Mindy Project. Fox canceled the romantic comedy series after three seasons, but it was quickly picked up by Hulu. It continued for three additional installments on the streaming platform and wrapped up its storyline, much to the delight of its dedicated fan base.

But unfortunately, it doesn't look like The Cleaning Lady will be following in their footsteps. Despite fans’ hopes and the precedent set by other shows, it appears that the crime drama series has reached its final curtain call. According to TVLine's Chief Content Officer Matt Webb Mitovich, he's learned from an inside source that there’s no chance of any streaming service continuing the show because "no new home is being sought." In other words, The Cleaning Lady has officially concluded with no plans of coming back.

"The chances are, alas, zero. I am assured that The Cleaning Lady‘s run has come to an end, and no new home is being sought."

This very unfortunate news, especially since the fourth season ended on a cliffhanger. Fans are now left with an unresolved story, wondering what might have happened next if the show had continued. We wanted to see Thony take over the Sin Cara cartel!

The Cleaning Lady was created by Miranda Kwok and is based on the Argentine series La Chica que Limpia. It follows Thony De La Rosa, a Cambodian-Filipino former doctor living in Las Vegas on an expired visa. Desperate to save her gravely ill son, she ends up working for a powerful crime syndicate, using her medical skills to clean up crime scenes.

Élodie Yung starred as the main character, Thony De La Rosa. Also in the cast were Adan Canto, Oliver Hudson, Martha Millan, Sebastien LaSalle, Valentino LaSalle, Sean Lew, Faith Bryant, and many others.
