When you think of the best animated FOX shows, your mind probably flashes straight to The Simpsons, that iconic yellow family who’ve been making us laugh (and cringe) for decades. Many would argue that this show is the best adult animated series of all time, and while we won’t dispute its legendary status, it’s important to remember that FOX’s animation lineup is far richer and more diverse than just Springfield.

Since The Simpsons' premiere back in 1989, the TV network has launched a variety of other animated hits that pushed boundaries, explored new comedic territory, and built their own cult followings, proving FOX’s impact on animation extends far beyond one iconic family.

These shows have not only entertained audiences but also reshaped the landscape of adult animation, each bringing something unique to the table. Below, we've highlighted four of the best animated FOX shows that aren’t The Simpsons. These are series that have made their own mark and are definitely worth adding to your watchlist.

Bob's Burgers

Bob’s Burgers arrived well after The Simpsons, but it’s certainly left a lasting mark. It premiered on FOX with its first season back in January 2011, and has seen much success since then. The animated comedy is still currently airing its fifteenth season, but has already been officially confirmed to continue for four additional installments. This good news was announced back in April 2025. The renewal ensures that new episodes of the show will keep coming until at least May 2029.

Bob's Burgers revolves around the quirky Belcher family, who run a small, struggling hamburger joint in the seaside town of Seymour's Bay, New Jersey. Viewers watch as Bob, his spirited wife Linda, and their three eccentric kids Tina, Gene, and Louise navigate the challenges of running a family business while dealing with the hilarious chaos of everyday life.

Family Guy

Ten years after the premiere of The Simpsons, FOX aired another animated series that would leave its own bold mark on television: Family Guy. Debuting in 1999, the show centers on the Griffin family, a comically dysfunctional bunch living in the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island.

Leading the chaos is Peter, the often-inappropriate patriarch, whose wild behavior frequently throws the entire family into ridiculous predicaments. He's joined by his wife Lois, their shy daughter Meg, their sweet but not-so-bright son Chris, their well-spoken 1-year-old baby Stewie, and the talking family dog Brian. There are 23 seasons of Family Guy so far, with four additional seasons confirmed to air on FOX in the future.

The Cleveland Show

Due to the success of Family Guy, FOX decided to expand its animated universe by launching The Cleveland Show in 2009. This spin-off centers on Cleveland Brown, one of Peter Griffin’s lovable friends, as he leaves Quahog behind to move back to his hometown of Stoolbend, Virginia, with his son to start fresh with his high school sweetheart and her two children.

Unfortunately, The Cleveland Show did not reach the same level of popularity or critical acclaim as its predecessor, Family Guy, and was canceled after four seasons in 2013. However, it continues to be cherished by a dedicated fan base.

King of the Hill

Just a couple of years before Family Guy made its debut, FOX introduced King of the Hill in 1997, a show that took a different approach to animated comedy. Instead of wild antics and over-the-top humor, it delivered a grounded, character-driven story about the Hill family and their neighbors in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas.

The iconic animated series ran for 13 seasons before concluding in 2009. Now, a King of the Hill revival series is officially coming soon. However, the fourteenth season will not air on FOX and will instead stream on Hulu starting Aug. 4, 2025. All 10 episodes will drop at once on the streaming platform. Fans can also expect a significant time jump in the storyline, with Bobby now in his 20s.
