The first half of Survivor 49 has gone by in the blink of an eye and we’re officially entering the second half of the season. Through the first six episodes of the season, we’ve already seen seven players’ games come to an end and witnessed two tribe swaps and the seventh episode of Survivor 49 is going to bring about two major milestones in the season. These are milestones that have the potential to really start shaking up the game in the best possible way, and we’re so ready for the game to be turned on its head!
After two tribe swaps, we’re about to see the players finally drop their buffs. That’s right, the merge has finally arrived with the remaining players from Kele, Hina, and Uli coming together as one tribe after weeks of competing against each other. The merge was teased in the promo before being officially confirmed in the promotional materials for episode 7 including a teaser clip in which a boat arrives on Uli’s beach to drop off a letter announcing that the merge is finally happening.
“It’s day thirteen and the game is about to change. Drop your buffs, you have ten minutes to collect your things and a boat is waiting to take you to your new home,” Alex announces to his Uli tribemates as the group excitedly gathers their belongings and heads out.
The merge is sure to reignite old alliances and bring about new ones as the eleven remaining players fight to keep their games alive.
Thankfully, they won’t just have to rely upon their social games to keep themselves safe! Episode 7 will welcome the first individual immunity challenge of the season, giving one player safety entering the first post-merge Tribal Council of the season.
Winning immunity the day of the merge is always a major advantage, as it keeps the winning player safe in what is always an unpredictable vote. It’s one of the most crucial individual immunities of the entire game, especially for the players lacking alliances or who are at the bottom of the totem pole of their current alliances as it gives them the opportunity to leverage immunity to build bonds that will hopefully keep them safe for a few more days.
It’s going to be fun to see who walks away with the first individual immunity of Survivor 49, and there’s no telling who might walk away with the victory. The season is full of strong players and there are several players who have a real shot of winning the challenge and securing their safety, so we’ll just have to wait to see who that lucky player ends up being!
