When the fall TV season kicks off later this year, the broadcast lineup is going to look quite different. We’ll see new shows making their debuts and replacing canceled hits, and we’ll also see some returning shows on the move to new nights. This is always fun for fans who love to enjoy shows live the night they air, as it can pit their favorite shows against one another and force them to choose which to watch live.
In total, there are eight shows on the move to new nights this fall across ABC, CBS, and NBC, with CBS bringing about the most changes to its schedule! This isn’t really too much of a surprise, as CBS handed out cancellations to several shows this year which means schedule changes are needed to fill the vacancies of the canceled shows.
CBS’s biggest shakeup will come to its Monday and Tuesday night lineups courtesy of a new NCIS block on Tuesday night with NCIS and NCIS: Origins on the move from Monday nights to Tuesday, and NCIS: Sydney moving from Friday into the Tuesday night franchise block. CBS will also be moving FBI to a new night where it will join its new spinoff, CIA.
NBC and ABC then each have two shows on the move.
For NBC, we’ll see St. Denis Medical moving to Monday nights while former Monday night drama The Hunting Party will shift to Thursday night where it’ll air after the Law & Order dramas. Meanwhile, ABC will see Shark Tank giving up its Friday night spot to move to Wednesdays and see Celebrity Wheel of Fortune taking over Shark Tank’s old Friday night stomping grounds.
It’ll be interesting to see how these shows end up faring next to their new competition, as some shows will face stiffer competition on their new nights than they had on their old. So just what will the new competition look like for these eight shows?
