4 shows to watch on broadcast this week, Aug. 18–24 (and 3 to skip)

Here's what to watch and skip across the Big 5 broadcast networks.

Are you on the lookout for something to watch this week? We’re nearing the end of the summer season, but there are still some great shows to check out as fall TV isn’t quite here yet. We have you covered from Monday, Aug. 18 to Sunday, Aug. 24.

It’s all about the reality shows this week, whether you’re looking for a new dating show or you want to take an adventure into the world of a theme park. As for the shows to skip, there are scripted dramas, but that’s only because you can watch them elsewhere.

What to watch: LEGO Masters Jr.

While LEGO Masters has come to an end, there is still something to watch to see Master Builders in their habitats. In this case, it’s all about the younger Master Builders, as LEGO Masters Jr. gets started. Children have some of the best creativity, and we get to see the masterpieces come together.

As usual, the children do have an adult helping them out. Each team has a celebrity adult to push them to the finish line.

LEGO Masters Jr. airs on FOX on Monday at 8/7c.

What to watch: Are You My First?

There’s a new reality dating show worth checking out. Are You My First? is literally taking you through a group of virgins looking for the one that they will call their first. Colton Underwood and Kaitlyn Bristowe from Bachelor Nation will host this new reality series.

The usual dating rules don’t apply here. This is a case of people finding the people they are willing to lose their virginity to, which is a huge deal for so many. If they don’t find someone to couple up with, they’re out of the show.

Are You My First airs on Monday at 10/9c on ABC.

What to skip: High Potential

I know this is a great show, but there’s no need to watch it live. There are plenty of other shows to check out, and you don’t want to use up a block that is taken up by a rerun. After all, there are ways to watch the reruns without needing the ads.

High Potential is more than worth watching for sure, but skip the broadcast schedule and check it out on Hulu. The entire first season is available, so you can watch whichever episode you want and get caught up.

High Potential season 2 premieres next month!

What to watch: Songs and Stories with Kelly Clarkson

Are you a Kelly Clarkson fan? Well, we’ve got an offering for you. Well, NBC has an offering for you. This is a chance for Kelly to talk ot the Jonas Brothers and hear all about their stories and their passions.

On top of that, the group and Kelly will sing together on the stage. There will be a rerun of this later in the week, but if you want to watch the first airing, that’s much better. It tells NBC that we want more of this. And what’s not to love about Kelly Clarkson?

Songs and Stories with Kelly Clarkson airs on Tuesday at 10/9c on NBC.

What to skip: Good Cop/Bad Cop

Considering how poorly this did perform in the linear ratings when it first aired, I do hate to put it on the skip list. However, like with High Potential, there’s another way to watch, so you don’t need to use up an hour of broadcast TV. After all, Wednesdays are packed with some great reality shows and quiz shows.

Good Cop/Bad Cop is available for free on The CW App. While this is ad supported, there are fewer ads than you’d get on the channel, so watch it there, where you can get the entire season.

What to watch: Inside the Worlds of Epic Universe

Have you had the chance to go to Universal since the change to the parks? Possibly not, so NBC is bringing the magic to you. For an hour, you’ll get to delve inside Universal Orlando Resort’s Universal Epic Universe to take a look at the storytelling and innovation behind the theme park.

It’s a chance to delve into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Super Mario World, How to Train Your Dragon, and much more. If you’ve wanted to know more before you spend money on your ticket, now is the chance to see it all.

Inside the Worlds of Epic Universe airs on Wednesday at 9/8c on NBC.

What to skip: Happy’s Place

Lastly, it’s all about a great comedy show. Happy’s Place reruns are taking over Fridays, but again, it’s one to skip for now. Again, it’s reruns, and you’ll probably want to enjoy the last of the summer evenings before the cold fall is here.

Happy’s Place is available to stream on Peacock. The entire first season is there to give you a chance to catch up before season 2 premieres in November.
