It seems The Voice is about to bring back two of its most beloved coaches with Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson returning to the show, just sadly not in the way fans might be hoping for.

With the season 27 finale fast approaching, NBC has lined up an amazing list of guest performances to help close out the season during the 2-hour live finale. Among those confirmed to return for the finale are Shelton and Clarkson, with this marking the first time Shelton will be coming back to the show since his final season aired back in early 2023. While we’re going to love seeing Clarkson and Shelton popping up as guest performers for the finale, we’d be lying if we didn’t admit to being disappointed that their returns are coming simply as performers rather than as coaches for the next season or even in mentoring capacities.

Shelton and Clarkson brought such a fun energy to the show and we’ve missed their presence on The Voice since their respective departures as coaches from the show. Their returns are sure to be among the highlights of the night, but it would certainly be fun to see one or both of the former coaches announced to come back for a bigger role on the show.

The same rings true for some of the additional Voice coaches set to return for the season 27 finale in what is going to be a true homecoming for many former coaches! In addition to Clarkson and Shelton, NBC has also confirmed the return of Alicia Keys and Chance the Rapper as guest performers. They’ll be joined by some amazing performers, with the following performers confirmed for The Voice season 22 finale results show: James Bay, Foreigner, Joe Jonas, Bryce Leatherwood, Amanda Reid, and Sheryl Crow.

In addition to a night of amazing performances from the guest slate, the night will also see The Voice’s current coaches Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé, John Legend, and Adam Levine each taking to the stage to perform a duet with their final artists of the season and for some solo performances as well!

To recap, here’s the full slate of performers lined up for the season 27 live finale:

  • Kelsea Ballerini performing "Baggage"
  • James Bay ft. Sheryl Crow performing “You and Me Time"
  • Michael Bublé performing “Always on My Mind"
  • Chance the Rapper performing “Space and Time"
  • Kelly Clarkson performing "Where Have You Been"
  • Foreigner performing “Feels Like the First Time,” “Juke Box Hero,” and “I Want to Know What Love Is”
  • Joe Jonas performing “Music for People Who Believe In Love"
  • Alicia Keys ft. Amanda Reid performing “The River / Empire State of Mind”
  • Bryce Leatherwood performing “God Made”
  • John Legend performing "So High"
  • Blake Shelton performing “Texas"
  • Coach and Finalist Duets

Needless to say, NBC has lined up quite a list of performers for the season 27 finale show nad wans won’t want to miss the action when teh season finale airs live on Tuesday, May 20, beginning at 9/8c on NBC!
