Most of the broadcast networks are still to make decisions on their shows, but we already know that some will come to an end in 2026. In some good news, the scripted shows have been given the warning that they’re ending, which allows for them to craft an ending.

When it comes to the third show on the list, it’s a late night TV series, which means the ending isn’t as crucial to hit just right. Plus, while the show itself is coming to an end, it doesn’t mean that we’ll never see the host again!

So, as we look forward to the new year, let’s get ready for the shows that are coming to an end. While this list only covers the three broadcast networks, there are other shows on premium cable and streaming to watch out for, as we already know they’re ending.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

We’ll start with the late night series, as we know roughly when the series will end. Colbert’s contract wasn’t renewed by Paramount, leading to his current contract ending in May 2026. However, The Late Show is disappearing as a whole as well, as it looks like Paramount isn’t looking to find a new host.

Colbert took over hosting duties on Sept. 8, 2015 after David Letterman stepped away. Letterman was the original host of the series, and he became a household name due to opening monologues and his interviews. Since then, Colbert brought his signature satire and comedy to the late night series, and it became the No. 1 show.

Despite this, Paramount opted to not renew his contract. It came at the height of Donald Trump constantly attacking Colbert, as Colbert would constantly take digs at Trump. Since the cancellation, Trump has put more focus on Jimmy Kimmel, but that late night host’s contract was renewed by Disney.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will end in May 2026.

All American

In June 2025, The CW offered us some good and bad news. All American season 8 would happen, but it came with the caveat of it being the last. The benefit of this is that the writers knew that it would be the end, offering everyone a chance to wrap up the storylines. It was better than many shows on The CW recently have been given, so we’ll take it!

The cancellation wasn’t all that surprising. After all, with Nexstar taking over The CW, it led to multiple shows abruptly canceled, including Nancy Drew, Walker, and All American: Homecoming. There were fears that All American would follow, especially as many of the OG cast left after season 6, leading to a complete reset in season 7.

The CW didn’t have All American on its midseason 2026 schedule, so now we just have to wait to see when the series will end in the new year. At least it will get the proper ending it deserves.

Welcome to Venice
“Welcome to Venice” – The Butlers and Johnsons help Malcolm start a new chapter in a new city that, while just across town, is worlds away from the neighborhood, on part two of the hour-long seventh season finale of the CBS Original series THE NEIGHBORHOOD, Monday, May 5 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*.

The Neighborhood

CBS didn’t just cancel a late night show. It also canceled its longest-running comedy of right now, The Neighborhood. However, like The CW did with All American, the series got time to wrap up its storylines.

This was one of those cancellations that was a bit of a shock. After all, it continued to do well in the linear ratings, and the series continually gained praise from fans. Yet, it’s ending on a high — and I guess, that’s not a bad thing!

It’s possible that it comes down to cost, with Cedric the Entertainer leading the series. It’s also possible that multiple people on the set were ready to say goodbye. Whatever the reason, it’s ending, and if you’ve watched the episodes, you know it’s ending in the way that it deserves to.

There was an attempt to keep the universe going with a spinoff, but in the end, that didn’t get picked up by CBS. Now the work is on to find a great comedy series to take over — and that’s not going to be easy!

The Neighborhood will likely end sometime in May 2026.
