NBC's Emmy-winning musical competition series has added a Grammy-winning artist and true Hollywood legend to the cast of its upcoming 30th season!
Multi-hyphenate Queen Latifah, a Grammy-winning musician; Emmy and Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated actress and producer; record label president; National Medal of the Arts recipient; and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, will be making her coaching debut in season 30, bringing her decades of experience in the industry to try to coach her team to victory.
This will mark Latifah's first time serving as a judge or mentor on a competition series, and it seems only fitting that she'll make her debut in the reality competition genre via The Voice. This will also mark Latifah's first return to a broadcast TV series since the cancellation of The Equalizer by CBS in 2025.
Latifah won't be the only new coach taking a turn in The Voice's iconic big red chairs, as she'll be joined by fellow first-time coach Riley Green. The CMA and ACM Award winner will be making his coaching debut in season 30, though he's no stranger to The Voice family having previously dropped in to perform during the season 26 and season 28 finales.
The pair of new coaches will be joined by two veteran coaches returning to the coaching panel, including the reigning champion of The Voice. Back for season 30 are Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson, who both made their returns to the franchise for season 29's Battle of the Champions whicih ended with Levine coaching his artist Alexia Jayy to victory.
Season 30 marks a return to the show's normal formatting with a four-coach panel, but it remains to be seen what other changes the season might bring. For the first time in the history of the show, The Voice did not go live with the entire season having been pre-taped with the winner determined by those in the audience during the episodes' tapings.
It'll be interesting to see if The Voice season 30 brings back the live shows and puts the voting back in the hands of the viewers. That element was certainly missing from season 29, with many fans expressing frustrations with not being able to vote for their favorite artists and weigh in on the winner of the season. We'll see if NBC took note of that frustration and brings the live shows back for season 30 as we return to the four-coach formatting, or if they'll continue to pre-tape the full season.
The Voice season 30 will air Mondays this fall on NBC!
