ABC's The Bachelorette saga with Taylor Frankie Paul has taken a new turn. Now, there are plans to air the canceled season of The Bachelorette after all.
According to Reality Steve, ABC is planning to air the new season of The Bachelorette with Taylor Frankie Paul as the lead sometime this summer on his Instagram.
"I have an update in regard to Taylor Frankie Paul's Bachelorette season," Reality Steve begins. "According to my sources, it is going to air, and not only that, it's not getting dumped on a streamer. It's going to air on ABC this summer."
Reality Steve also predicted that the news will be revealed during ABC's upfronts presentation next week. He mentioned that he didn't know when the season will actually premiere. His sources have not revealed the official premiere date for the season yet, just that it's going to premiere this summer.
It's hard to say just when the new season might premiere. ABC has rolled out new seasons of The Bachelor franchise in June or July in the past. The most recent seasons have all premiered in late June or early July, though before that, most seasons of The Bachelorette premiered in May and ran throughout the summer.
As Reality Steve also notes, ABC never mentioned that that full season was canceled. Basically, the network pressed pause on the season to gather more information, and it appears that they've made a decision to go forward with the series.
This seems like the most likely outcome, one that was mentioned at the time of ABC's and Disney's decision this spring. When you factor in the financial losses, reported to be around $30 million, for canceling the full season plus the cost to future seasons of The Bachelor franchise, it was always hard to imagine ABC would stand behind the decision not to air the season.
For those out of the loop, Disney pressed pause on The Bachelorette starring Taylor Frankie Paul just days before the premiere in March 2026 after TMZ posted a video of a 2023 fight with Paul's ex, Dakota Mortensen. Paul was charged and pleaded guilty to an assault. She's remained a cast member for Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and was cast as the lead in The Bachelorette after that incident.
We'll share more details about The Bachelorette starring Taylor Frankie Paul as we learn more. I would assume that ABC will have some mention of the series at the Upfronts, regardless of what happens with this season. The Bachelor franchise is still, after all this time, one of ABC's biggest entities. It occupies a massive portion of ABC's lineup, so we should find out soon what the real plan is for The Bachelorette and the next season of The Bachelor, which is rumored to begin filming later this year.
