SWAT’s run on CBS might have ended, but the beloved show will live on via an exciting new spinoff that has just reached a major milestone in its creation!

After entering production in 2025 shortly after the spinoff was announced, Deadline has reported that SWAT: Exiles has wrapped filming, which puts the show one step closer to the finish line. Now that the show has wrapped filming on its first season, the next big hurdle the show must overcome is finding an official home for the show, though it seems that shouldn’t be too difficult, as it appears many outlets are interested in picking up the Sony Pictures Television-produced spinoff.

SWAT: Exiles is a bit of a unique production in that the spinoff was ordered and filmed without a network attached. This gave Sony Pictures Television more creative control over the spinoff and allowed the studio to bet big on itself by pushing ahead with the show before shopping it to networks. That move seems to have paid off, as interest in the show is reportedly strong with a number of networks and streaming providers now looking to become home to the show.

Sony TV is set to screen the first episode of the season for potential U.S. buyers this week and will be presenting to international buyers at the end of February with star Shemar Moore expected to be on hand to discuss and promote the show.

Interestingly, it seems there is a good chance that the series could land on streaming with Netflix and HBO Max reportedly looking to be possible homes to the show, as they’re each said to be seeking “high-quality, lower-cost programming.” With SWAT: Exiles being produced with a modest broadcast budget, the show would certainly fit into that category and is also a series that could be released annually similar to what HBO Max has begun looking for with The Pitt.

USA Network also seems to be in the conversation and could be a perfect fit for the show as it eases back into scripted programming. It would be a perfect addition to the USA Network lineup which saw tremendous success with its new legal drama The Rainmaker, which will return for a second season this year.

What is perhaps most surprising is that CBS and Paramount+ haven’t been mentioned as potential homes for the show. Given that all eight seasons of SWAT aired on CBS, it’s surprising that CBS doesn’t seem to be a frontrunner to pick up the show. However, that might be best for fans given the roller-coaster ride CBS took them on in the later years of the show’s run, cancelling the show multiple times, only to reverse the decision before ultimately bringing the show to an end after season 8.

The one broadcast network that expressed interest back in May when the show first entered production was Fox, which has been ramping up plans for the 2026-27 TV season. Since May, Fox has pushed ahead with a batch of new programs in development, so it’ll be interesting to see if the network might still be interested in the show or if that window has closed.

Regardless, it seems like there is a lot of interest in SWAT: Exiles and the show should hopefully have a home soon!
