SWAT series finale brings back 2 characters fans haven't seen in seasons

As SWAT comes to an end, there are at least two familiar faces set to make one final appearance on the CBS hit drama.

As SWAT comes to a close on CBS after eight amazing seasons, it seems that fans will get the chance to see two familiar faces… just sadly, not the ones at the top of fans’ wishlists.

Before SWAT comes to an end, fans are going to get the chance to see two characters return for the first time in what has honestly felt like forever! Taking to Instagram, star Jay Harrington revealed that the 2-part series finale will feature the return of Deacon’s son and daughter, Sam and Victoria! While it’s unclear how exactly they’ll fit into the picture within the finale storyline, the behind-the-scenes photos Harrington shared show them enjoying a bit of time at the playground… though Deacon’s expression seems to hint that something stressful might be occurring.

It’s nice to see the writers bringing the characters back after all these years, and it always felt strange that the characters just sort of disappeared. Sure, the show has always made Deacon’s family life a key part of the show, and he mentions his wife and kids often, but as the years went by we saw less and less of his family life onscreen. This is evident in how we went from seeing his wife Annie and their kids appearing on the show often to rarely at all.

As SWAT ends, it’s nice to know we’ll get at least one more scene with Deacon and his kids, though we do wish the writers hadn’t waited until the last minute to bring them back. It’s also nice to know we’re at least getting to see them one last time before the show’s time comes to an end.

The same, sadly, does not seem to be the case for some of the show’s other more prominent characters. Unless there is a surprise coming our way in the final episodes, it seems unlikely that we’re going to see original stars Lina Esco (Chris), Kenny Johnson (Luca), or Alex Russell (Street) returning before the show signs off the air for good with its series finale.

Disappointing as it is that we won’t see the trio back for a final appearance, it makes sense as it seems the creative team didn’t plan on the show ending with season 8. Because of this, there wasn’t a plan to craft yet another series finale, which means the show had no reason to bring the original trio back in the final episodes of season 8. At least we got some closure with Chris, Luca, and Street’s storylines before the show came to an end.
