If you can believe it, we're quickly approaching the time of the year when the broadcast networks start to make decisions on renewals and cancellations. CBS and NBC have already handed out multiple renewals to a number of their hit shows, but we'll be holding out until spring for the bulk of the announcements. However, The CW has decided the fate of an underrated crime drama.

According to Matt Webb Mitovitch on Matt's Inside Line, Sight Unseen season 3 isn't happening at either CTV, the show's Canadian network, or The CW, which aired the series in the United States. A representative for CTV confirmed to Mitovitch that the plug had been pulled on the crime drama and a third season isn't being ordered, but there's even worse news for fans in the U.S.

Sight Unseen officially canceled, won't return for season 3

Mitovitch also reveals that along with the cancellation news, The CW doesn't appear to have plans to air Sight Unseen season 2 as the first season's airing was the network's least-watched series during its initial run. While you can still watch all 10 episodes of the first season on The CW's website, the second season isn't available and will likely never receiving a televised airing in the States.

Sight Unseen first made its premiere in Canada on CTV in January 2024 and later made the leap to the United States with an airing on The CW in April 2024. The Canadian crime drama was part of an effort for the struggling network to acquire content from up north in an attempt to reduce costs and turn a profit for the first time in its lifespan. (Sadly, that meant the network's series were purged.)

The CW has found some success with the method, most recently with the Canadian crime procedural Wild Cards, which recently premiered its third season on the network and has also been renewed for a fourth season. Unfortunately, Sight Unseen didn't enjoy the same level of success. While the second season aired on CTV in January 2025, there will be no season 3 on either network.

It's a shame that The CW doesn't have any plans to air the 10-episode second season, much less make the season available to stream on its website. The American viewers who tuned into and enjoy season 1 back in 2024 haven't been able to watch the follow-up season and see how the series ends. We can still hope those episodes will have the chance to be seen by the show's fans.

Sight Unseen comes from creators Karen Troubetzkoy and Nikolijne Troubetzkoy and centers on Tess Avery (Dolly Lewis), a former detective who has completely lost her vision. However, she's still able to use her skills to assist the police in solving some of the most challenging crimes. The series also stars Agam Darshi and Daniel Gillies. All told, the series ended with a total of 20 episodes.
