There's an exciting update in store for The CW's comedy-drama police procedural Good Cop/Bad Cop. No, the Leighton Meester-starring series hasn't been renewed for season 2 (yet), but the show could definitely make inroads toward that goal once it starts streaming on Prime Video.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed in a profile of Meester that Good Cop/Bad Cop begins streaming on Prime Video in the United States on Sunday, June 15. That means it's available to stream right now! All eight episodes of the series are available to watch on Amazon's streamer, which is also the wider streaming home of The CW's fellow procedural Wild Cards.
Following the season's conclusion in April, it's promising to see Good Cop/Bad Cop get a wider streaming release in the United States besides on The CW's own website and app. Availability will allow many more viewers check out the series than had the ability to when it aired on The CW. This gives the series, which is seemingly struggling and awaiting its fate, a much-needed boost.

Good Cop/Bad Cop could get a streaming boost on Prime Video
We have all heard the stories about the coveted "Netflix bump" that help raise the profile of many CW shows in its day. The likes of Riverdale, All American, and Dynasty surely benefitted from streaming on Netflix when The CW still had a deal in place with the streaming service. Those shows might not have lasted as long as they did without the audience streaming afforded them.
Prime Video isn't quite in the same ball field as Netflix when it comes to changing a show's fate. We've never quite seen a show resuscitated by streaming on Prime Video, but honestly, it can't hurt! Good Cop/Bad Cop can still receive a ratings increase and a lift that can inspire The CW and Stan to order a second season. Any boost is a good boost, no matter where it comes from!
When the series began streaming on Prime Video in other territories in May, creator John Quaintance said on Instagram, "Doing well on Amazon will help us get our second season so if you haven't watched yet, here's your chance." Networks still keep a close watch on streaming numbers, whether on Netflix or Hulu, and how those contribute to a show's popularity.
If you look at Good Cop/Bad Cop's ratings on The CW, they're pretty dismal and comparatively lower than those of lead-in Wild Cards. Ratings were said to have been a focus for the network's new guard, which isn't great news for GC/BC. However, the ratings aren't much lower than Wild Cards, and that series is likely to return for seasons 3 and 4 on The CW after being renewed in its home country Canada.
That's all to say, let's stream Good Cop/Bad Cop on Prime Video! Do it for Queen B! She's back on The CW with an excellent new show, playing a cop named Lou Hickman who's working with her estranged younger brother Henry (Luke Cook) and father Hank (Clancy Brown). It's a lot of fun, full of mystery, and there's even a cameo appearance from Meester's husband Adam Brody. What's not to love?!
