Sometimes when you come into a job, especially one that's in the television and movie industry, there's certain actors that you hear about who are legends. Everyone wants to, or has had the privilege of, working with them. Well, there's a Saturday Night Live star who claims there's one alum who is definitely "everyone's favorite."
Speaking on the Good One podcast recently, SNL's Sarah Sherman talked about one cast member who was talked about so much, she was desperate to meet them. She revealed everyone's fave is actor and comedian Beck Bennett. I don't know if that's who I was expecting honestly given the diverse pool of talent on the sketch comedy series. Plus, there's so many others who have been there, and are still there, for much longer. But, ok. I can also see it.

Bennett first joined the show in season 39 back in 2013 and was there for eight years, his last SNL installment being season 46 in 2021. With Sherman joining the following year in season 47, clearly his loss with the cast and crew was still fresh and felt. The actress explained how she continued to hear about him, which made her so sad that she didn't get the chance to. Here's what she said on the podcast, per NBC:
"When I got to SNL, everybody was like, 'I'm so depressed. Beck Bennett isn't here. Where the f--k is Beck Bennett? He didn't come back. This sucks.'" She continued on to say that even to this day, Bennett is "everyone's favorite [person] in the entire building of 30 Rock."
She finally got to know that firsthand when Sherman and Bennett shared the stage for the epic SNL50: Anniversary Special where he returned for the milestone episode. She got to spend plenty of time with him in multiple sketches, finally learning that "he's a hoot!" Well, there you go. See, even celebrities fan over others, including their own co-workers.
The love is not one-sided either as Bennett saw the clip, reposted it on social media, and captioned it with "love you @sarahsquirm." Um, I love that! It's so nice when everyone gets along. Bennett seriously is a funny and I know what Sherman means. He's still a missed SNL member, even after all this time. So I'm happy us viewers were at least able to see him back on the iconic stage again for the anniversary special. It was a treat for us too.
Be sure to catch Sherman and the rest of the SNL gang when Saturday Night Live season 51 premieres Sept. 27, 2025 on NBC, and stream the next day on Peacock.
