Another week is here, and now all of broadcast TV has its regular schedule airing. Well, almost. NBC still has a couple of comedies to return, but for the most part, the networks are in full swing, and this makes it difficult to decide what to watch and skip.
We have you covered throughout the week. Whether you’re looking for a new comedy, an old crime drama favorite, or something in between, we have our top suggestions for the week from Monday, Oct. 20 to Sunday, Oct. 26. And yes, we have the shows to skip (and watch on streaming the following day) as well.
What to watch: DMV
If you love workplace comedies, then DMV is likely a series you’re watching. It’s worth tuning into the second episode of the series. Pilots are written for the execs at the networks, but the second episodes are written for us.
In DMV episode 2, the new hire quits, and Colette worries that Noa will do the same thing. She doesn’t want that, so she tries to make the workplace better. Of course, that usually has a negative impact in these types of shows. It doesn’t help that there’s no air conditioning on one of the hottest days of the year!
DMV airs on Monday at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.
What to watch: Watson
Sherlock Holmes fans will need to tune into Watson this week. This episode will see John try to figure out what’s going on with his old friend Sherlock. Is the man back from the dead, or is he just a figment of John’s imagination? That is the big question right now, and we hope to get some answers in the new episode.
Meanwhile, the team will face a case of a zombie virus. No, not to turn people into zombies, but one that has come from melted ice caps, and it threatens everyone around them.
Watson airs on Monday at 10/9c on CBS.
What to skip: 911: Nashville rerun
ABC starts with Monday Night Football, and instead of using the last hour of the night to air something big, it’s opting for a rerun of its freshman series 911: Nashville. This is the show to skip, as you’ve already seen it, right?
If you haven’t watched the second episode of the series, then you can on Hulu whenever you want. There’s no need to sacrifice Watson to watch it.
911: Nashville’s rerun airs on Monday at 10/9c on ABC.
What to watch: NCIS
Tuesdays are all about NCIS, and you’ll need to tune into the second hour of the season 23 two-part premiere. The first episode ended with Harriet Parker having to give an order that would likely kill her own brother. Will she go through with it? It certainly seems that way.
Of course, we know that Parker will make it out of the ship alive, so the question is how. With some hope, we’ll also get a few answers about Eleanor Parker and the mysterious Lily, who has been haunting Parker for the whole of season 22.
NCIS airs on Tuesday at 8/7c on CBS.
What to watch: High Potential
We didn’t get a Halloween episode during the first season, but High Potential season 2 is delivering one, and we can’t wait! It’s set in an old Victorian home, which brings its own ghostly story. The question is whether the murder victim was killed by his dead ex-wife or his alive ex-wife.
Yes, there are sure to be plenty of funny jump scares throughout this episode. Plus, it gives Morgan a chance to show off her likely love for Halloween, as well as a few facts about how the holiday got started.
High Potential airs on Tuesday at 10/9c on ABC.
What to watch: Chicago Fire
When it comes to drama that is going to have you glued to the TV, we’re sure Chicago Fire is going to be that. This episode sees Herrmann have to attend a call at his own house, but it’s not the house or the memories that he’s worried about.
His daughter is home from school, and she’s likely somewhere in that house. He’s likely to go through all sorts of emotions, as Firehouse 51 deals with the situation unfolding in front of them. It’s a firefighter’s worst nightmare.
Chicago Fire airs on Wednesday at 9/8c on NBC.
What to skip: The Golden Bachelor
The dating series continues, but this one isn’t as entertaining as previous seasons of Bachelor Nation. While there’s a bit of drama, there’s no need to watch this live when there is a much bigger scripted show going on at the same time.
The great thing about The Golden Bachelor is that you can stream it the following day. It is available on Hulu, so pop it on when you’re making breakfast or during your lunch hour to catch up on the drama.
The Golden Bachelor airs on Wednesday at 9/8c on ABC.
What to watch: 911
Thursday nights are all about crazy first responder saves, and 911 season 9 is certainly going wild. The show has gone to space, and of course, there’s an emergency that Athena is a part of. This latest episode is the last of the three-part story, so it’s time to see just how Athena will save the day this time.
Meanwhile, the 118 will need to deal with emergencies on the ground. Debris is falling out of the sky, threatening the lives of everyone in Los Angeles. While everyone else is told to stay inside, the 118 needs to be out there, risking their lives to save the people not listening to instructions.
911 airs on Thursday at 8/7c on ABC.
What to skip: Law & Order
If you’re watching 911 live, it means you need to skip the other Thursday night shows. We put Law & Order on the list, but it’s one that you’ll want to watch on streaming as soon as you can.
This is a big episode that brings up a lot of issues with diplomatic immunity. A man thinks he can get away with murder because his father is a diplomat, and there are people pushing the DA to drop the case. That’s not happening, though, and you’ll need to watch it on Peacock the following day to see how it all plays out.
Law & Order airs on Thursday at 8/7c on NBC.

What to watch: Sheriff Country
The new series set in the Country universe has gotten off to a great start, so you’ll want to support it in its new and regular time slot. The first episode ended with Mickey’s daughter, Skye, coming home covered in blood. She was the last person to see her murdered boyfriend, and Mickey did the right thing in getting Skye to tell the truth.
Now it’s time to get to the bottom of the murder investigation, and this is a tricky one as Mickey can’t be involved. However, she’ll want to do what she can to find a missing person, who could be the one involved in the murder.
Sheriff Country airs on Fridays at 8/7c on CBS.
What to skip: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune
While Fridays can be all about the game shows, there are some big dramas on CBS now. So, you’ll want to know which shows to skip, and Celebrity Wheel of Fortune is that. You can catch up on the series whenever you want, even recording it to watch it at the very end of the night if you need to.
The great thing about it is that it airs on Hulu the following day. Avoid the internet for the spoilers, although out of all the shows around, game shows are the least likely ones to have spoiler issues online.
Celebrity Wheel of Fortune airs on Friday at 8/7c on ABC.
What to watch: Tracker
Finally, we end with the Sunday show to watch. It’s all about Tracker season 3, episode 2, with Colter and Russell continuing their search. During the first episode of the season, the two came across a sinister underground operation known as The Process, but they have no other details.
Of course, both will want to end this organization for good. To do that, they need to find the source, and that is sure to put the two in danger.
Tracker airs on Sunday after the NFL and 60 Minutes on CBS.
