One of FOX's best shows will be leaving Netflix soon (so you better watch it now!)

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but one of FOX’s most beloved shows is getting ready to leave Netflix soon. Since it's a show that the streaming giant has licensed, its departure was always a matter of time, and unfortunately, that time is almost here.

The Resident was added to Netflix on March 4, 2024, and old and new fans alike quickly flocked to the FOX medical drama, sending it soaring up the streaming charts. Its addition to the streaming service was due to a licensing deal between Netflix and Disney in December 2023, which would bring several popular ABC, FOX, FX, and other network shows to the platform for a limited time.

Besides The Resident, shows like Lost, This Is Us, Prison Break, Archer, How I Met Your Mother, White Collar, Home Improvement, ESPN 30 for 30, My Wife and Kids, Reba, The Bernie Mac Show, The Hughleys and the Wonder Years reboot were added to Netflix between January 2024 and February 2025.

However, these shows were only given an 18-month streaming window under the licensing deal. That said, we're about to see several leave Netflix soon. Of course, that's if the streaming giant doesn't choose to re-up its deal. Since The Resident was added on March 4, 2024, that means its scheduled departure would fall on Sept. 4, 2025.

Of course, we hope that Netflix decides to renew the agreement and keep the show available for fans for an extended time. But that's not the case at the moment. The streamer has not made any announcements about extending the deal or keeping The Resident on the platform beyond the current licensing period. So, for now, the best plan is to binge-watch the medical drama while you still can before it’s taken off Netflix.

September might seem far away from now, but time flies quickly. No one likes to be caught off guard when their favorite show suddenly disappears, so it’s best to start watching now and avoid the last-minute rush.

Created by Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore, and Roshan Sethi, the medical drama had a series run of six seasons on FOX. It revolves around the personal and professional lives of the doctors and other medical staff at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital, focusing particularly on the gifted yet unorthodox senior resident Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry).

Besides Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Manish Dayal, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Bruce Greenwood, Merrin Dungey, Melina Kanakaredes, Moran Atias, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and many others were also in the cast.
