Some people are happy to be cast in the hit dance competition series Dancing with the Stars. But not everyone is eager to trade in their everyday routine for glittery costumes, grueling rehearsals, and the pressure of performing live on national television. One such person is podcast host and media personality Kylie Kelce, who is also the wife of former NFL player Jason Kelce.
On the June 12th episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, Kelce sat down with Olympic rugby player Ilona Maher to chat about sports, life, and reality TV. The conversation then took a sharp (and hilarious) turn when Maher brought up her recent second-place finish on Dancing with the Stars season 33 and asked Kelce if she’d ever consider competing on a reality competition series. Kelce didn’t hesitate with her answer, firmly shutting down the idea with a resounding, “Absolutely f***ing not.”
When asked again specifically about Dancing with the Stars, she repeated herself and joked that the show shouldn’t even bother calling her because it would be a waste of time. Her blunt honesty left no room for speculation. She has no desire to trade her sneakers for dancing shoes anytime soon.
Honestly, it's not surprising that Kelce feels this way. The intense training, high expectations, and constant spotlight of a show like Dancing with the Stars isn't for everyone, especially for someone who values their privacy and prefers a more low-key lifestyle. While many celebrities thrive in that environment, Kelce isn't known to be someone who seeks the spotlight or craves reality TV fame.
In fact, she mentioned in a previous episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast that she doesn't really watch reality TV and doesn't keep up with celebrity news. So, it would make sense why she isn’t interested in joining the cast of a reality competition show like Dancing with the Stars. However, in this new episode, she does mention to Maher that she has seen some episodes of The Traitors since her husband watches it. She also mentions that she's watched Love Island as well.
Who knows? Maybe Kelce might surprise us all by trying something different down the line. But for now, competitive reality TV just isn’t on her radar. Instead, she seems more content focusing on her family and other passions away from the camera’s glare.
Dancing with the Stars season 34 is set to premiere on ABC this fall with Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough back as hosts. In addition, Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli are expected to return as judges. The only confirmed cast members so far are social media personality and model Alix Earle and wildlife conservationist and television personality Robert Irwin. Irwin is also the son of the late Steve Irwin.
