The Ghosts season 4 finale will see the launch of Sam and Isaac's vampire book, but there is something far more exciting, thanks to the images of the episode. We know that two major characters will return, along with one minor character.
Ghosts season 4 comes to an end on Thursday, May 8. Don't worry, though, as this isn't the end of the series. CBS has already renewed the show for not just one season but two! That means we're settled until the 2026–2027 TV season at the very least, so we can sit back and enjoy the laughs and potential soul-sucking moments from the finale episode.

The images for the episode tell us that there are some returning characters, one of them being Jay's sister, Bela. Punam Patel has been a joyous addition to the series, offering a way to get to know Jay more and to see that growth can happen to one of the living. While she can't see the ghosts, Bela finds herself interacting with them far more than she should—or, well, they interact with her or try to "help" her.
The last time we saw Bela, she was managing the restaurant, and it looked like she'd made a mistake when ordering shrimp. It turned out that she had planned her actions, and the ghosts simply thought she had messed up because of her track record. Oops!

Another returning character is Elias Woodstone, played by Matt Walsh. As Hetty's evil husband, it's not at all surprising to find out that he's back. He's like the bad penny that just keeps turning up!
The last time we saw him, he was trying to get one of the spirits to agree to come to hell. It turns out that he's a bit of a manager in hell, and he needs to meet a quota. Well, because of his position, he's able to leave the ghost boundary, and that meant he met with Jay for coffee to get Jay to sign his soul over.
Is it possible that Elias will be able to get Jay to turn his soul over? That's likely the intention, but the spirits in the house are sure to attempt to protect Jay from this. It could lead to Elias setting his sights on Bela in the Ghosts season 4 finale.

1 more Ghosts character will return in the season 4 finale
On top of that, we'll get to see Mary Holland return as Patience, who appeared more as a shadowy figure in the season 3 finale and then appeared in person in the season 4 premiere. She was the Puritan spirit Isaac left in the dirt many decades earlier, and she wanted revenge and then to become part of the Main 8 collection of spirits.
In the end, she realized that she didn't quite fit in and couldn't deal with the way the world had changed, so she went back to the dirt. If she's back, it suggests that trouble is brewing. Has she ended up falling for Elias's trap, or could she end up sacrificing herself to save Jay or Bela?
The Ghosts season 4 finale airs on Thursday, May 8 at 8:30/7:30c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
