Several medical dramas are making a comeback this fall, and one you definitely don’t want to miss is Doc. The highly anticipated second season is set to premiere on Fox on Tuesday, Sept. 23, and the new promo already has fans on edge.
Back in August 2025, Fox released the official trailer for Doc season 2, and tons of fans immediately dropped what they were doing to check it out. The trailer teased intense drama and emotional moments that had everyone speculating about what’s in store for Dr. Amy Larsen (Molly Parker) and her colleagues.
The second season will see Amy grappling with haunting memories from her missing eight years while facing new professional and personal challenges that could change everything at the hospital. There's a new chief of internal medicine at Westside Hospital named Dr. Joan Ridley (Felicity Huffman). She is an old friend and mentor of Amy. But after Dr. Ridley decides to initiate an official evaluation of everyone's performance, including Amy's, tensions rise, putting their friendship to the test and threatening Amy’s place at Westside.
Then, there's the complicated love triangle between Amy, Dr. Michael Hamda (Omar Metwally), and Dr. Jake Heller (Jon Ecker). The trailer teased that we'll see Amy still struggle to fully connect with Jake because of her missing memories, while also wrestling with her feelings for ex-husband Michael. But what really stuck out in the Doc season 2 trailer is the quick clip of a person walking into the hospital with a gun.
As the gunman begins to aim his weapon, TJ (Patrick Walker) springs into action and tries to disarm him, risking his own safety to protect the doctors, patients, and staff caught in the chaos. Although the trailer doesn't show anyone hurt, a gunshot does go off. Could someone be in danger in Doc season 2? It appears so based on the new promo.
We're about to discuss the Doc season 2 promo next, which sort of dives into spoiler content. So, this is your warning to click off the article if you don't want to be spoiled.
New Doc season 2 promo reveals that TJ was shot
Well, it turns out somebody was indeed shot based on the season 2 promo. That character was TJ, which shouldn't be surprising given that he was in direct contact with the shooter when the gun went off. In the promo, Jake and the other doctors are shown wheeling an injured TJ through the hospital. The clip is really short, but it doesn't look like TJ is badly hurt. Jake is shown applying pressure to TJ's bloody knee, so it appears the wound is treatable and not life-threatening. But then again, it is a short clip. We might not have seen the full extent of his injuries.
The Doc season 2 promo also shows Jake with a bloody wound on his forehead, so it appears he might have been injured during the same incident. While the wound doesn't look that serious, there's a possibility that he might be dealing with more than just one injury. Obviously, we want both TJ and Jake to be okay. But if we've learned anything from medical dramas, it’s that no character is ever truly safe, and even minor injuries can quickly spiral into life-or-death situations.
