Move over, One Chicago franchise! NBC is turning its attention to a new kind of high-stakes drama, and who better to lead the charge than a fan-favorite 911: Lone Star actor? The network has reportedly tapped this seasoned performer to headline the show.

No, it's not 911: Lone Star's Ronen Rubinstein or Brian Michael Smith. However, fans can get ready to see Rob Lowe step into the spotlight once again. According to Variety, the Emmy-nominated actor is set to star in NBC's upcoming drama The Detail. It's described as a show that centers around the high-pressure world of the U.S. president’s Secret Service detail. It follows the elite agents as they balance protecting the nation with navigating their own personal lives.

Jennifer Yee McDevitt (Over the Moon) created the series. In addition, it's being produced by UTV, which is a part of Universal Studio Group. Besides starring, Lowe is also signed on as an executive producer. However, no details about his character have been revealed yet. Additionally, no other actors have been cast except for him.

Lowe is best known for previously starring in the lead role of Captain Owen Strand on Fox’s 911: Lone Star for all five of its seasons. However, some people might even recognize him from his iconic roles in Parks and Recreation, The West Wing, Brothers & Sisters, or his many film appearances, including Wayne’s World, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Dog Gone. And we can't forget the Netflix workplace comedy series, Unstable, that he not only starred in but also co-created.

You can currently catch him on the Fox game show The Floor, where he serves as both host and producer, as well as on the fourth season of his interview podcast, Literally! With Rob Lowe. Other than The Detail, Lowe's upcoming projects include the supernatural horror film The Third Parent, as well as the indie dark comedy The Musical.

As you can see, Lowe is pretty booked and busy. In fact, fans are even hoping to see him reprise his Capt. Owen Strand role in the 911 spinoff, 911: Nashville. Lowe previously stated in an interview with Variety that while he loves the character and appreciates how much fans connected with him, there are currently no plans to bring him back. However, he didn't completely rule out the possibility in the future. We can only hope!
