It's that Friday of the TV season when we learn of all the bulk cancellations. NBC has kicked it all off with the cancellation of Night Court.
That's right, the Tuesday night comedy is not going to see a fourth season. It's terrible news, especially as it continues to draw in fans both old and new. It's just one of those shows that has seen year-to-year drops.
According to Deadline, the cancellation came late due to negotiations happening. There was a push to get Night Court back for a fourth and final season on NBC, but in the end, the negotiations didn't go favorably. It's not clear whether this fourth and final season would have been cut short compared to previous seasons, or if it would mean some actors would find their episode counts cut.
The good news is that unlike the FBI shows and The Equalizer, which were canceled by CBS this year, Night Court is being shopped around. Maybe Netflix could step in and give this series fresh life. It's a Warner Bros. series, so maybe it can go on Max, which is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, to get a fourth and final season out of it.

In some terrible news, there are no more episodes of the Night Court revival left. The series wrapped its third and now final season on Tuesday, May 6, seeing Melissa Rauch team up with her Big Bang Theory on-screen husband, Simon Helberg, for a fun trial.
To make matters worse, the episode left with a cliffhanger — no spoilers here! — showing that the series didn't expect to get canceled. Now we really need it to be saved by another network as the season ended without a proper conclusion, and the show deserves the chance to finish the story it started.
NBC is expected to make more big cancellations this year, as the 2025–2026 TV season is looking packed. Tuesday nights will be taken over by the NBA for some time, as NBC has entered into a deal. That takes a whole night of programming out, which was the night for comedy, reality, and drama.
With Night Court seeing a reduction in the linear ratings over this last season, it's not surprising then that this show ended up canceled. We're holding out hope that it will find a new home, at least to carry out the final intended story.
Night Court is available to stream on Peacock.
