It’s time to get ready for your favorite reality show, The Traitors, and it’s coming to NBC rather than Peacock. This time, it’s coming with a twist that will match the UK version of the series a little more.
Up to this point, The Traitors in the U.S. has seen a variety of reality stars battle it out to be the best. The Canadian series has followed suit, but the UK version of the show does something differently. It opts for no reality shows, making it a series of what are now being called “civilians.”

The Traitors is about to get a civilian version
Well, a civilian version of the series is coming to the U.S., but not to Peacock. NBC will get to air the series instead.
The first season of The Traitors, which aired in 2023, did include a mixture of celebrities and civilians. However, the second season shifted to a full celebrity lineup, and that’s the way it’s remained since. For those who love to get to know other people rather than focus on the same stars we’ve already come to know, a full civilian version is certainly exciting.
Alan Cumming will still host the new version, and it’s likely to still be set in the same Scottish castle that has become the home of the game. That’s also the home for the UK version, while other countries have opted for other locations.
If you’re not sure what to think of an all-civilian season, I highly recommend watching the UK version. One of the benefits is that you don’t know the people, and neither do the other contestants, so it’s harder to guess if they’ve betrayed people to win a game in the past or not.

When will this new Traitors air on NBC?
As of right now, Deadline doesn’t have any of the important details we’d want to know. It’s not even clear if this is intended for the 2025–2026 TV season. It’s possible that it could be created to help fill a gap in the summer schedule, although we’re still waiting on whether Destination X will be renewed or not.
We know that production will start up in 2026, which could allow for a summer release date. It also hints that it could end up being part of the 2026–2027 TV season, and that seems crazy to think of when fall TV 2025 hasn’t even started up yet!
Right now, the focus is on the fourth season of the celebrity version of the series. That is set to arrive on Peacock in 2026, where you can watch all three previous seasons.
