Another network has its January return dates, but 2026 is going to look a little different. It’s all about NBC, with the new year focused on the Winter Olympics. Yes, that means a small change to the schedule come February.
However, there are plenty of new and returning shows arriving in January 2026, with a lot of the premiere dates as expected. The start of January is packed, and it makes sense with the sporting events in February.
Winter Olympics and Super Bowl coverage
NBC is the network with the Super Bowl in February 2026, and that’s got a proud spot in the schedule. Get ready for Sunday, Feb. 8, as two teams battle it out for the crown for this year. NBC hasn’t announced if there will be a show airing straight after the Super Bowl, which is usually the case to get eyes on something the networks really want to promote.
Another sporting event to look out for is the Winter Olympics, with NBC getting the coverage once again. The games will start on Friday, Feb. 6 for the Opening Ceremony, and will then run straight through for two weeks, ending on Feb. 22, 2026. It looks like all programming is going to be off during that time.
There is the All-Star NBA Game to also get ready for. That will take place on Sunday, Feb. 15, and will also air on NBC.
The Hunting Party returns, The Voice has a special timeslot
The Hunting Party season 2 was supposed to arrive in fall 2025, but it was pushed to the midseason. The reason for this was never all that clear, but it’s possible that NBC realized that it wasn’t worth risking the show. Instead, The Hunting Party season 2 will now air premiere on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 10/9c. Law & Order and SVU will both return from their winter breaks on that night, starting at 8/7c.
The Voice is another notable show on the list, as it will get three two-hour episodes across three weeks. This all happens straight after the Olympic coverage, with The Voice taking over Monday nights from 9/8c for two hours. Then from Monday, March 2, The Voice will only get one hour with the return of Brilliant Minds.
Don’t worry; we’re not waiting until March for Brilliant Minds to return from its winter break. Brilliant Minds will initially return on Monday, Jan. 5, but it will take time off in February for the Winter Olympics before then returning once more in March. Confused? You’re probably not the only one!
There is a new series to look forward to in February once the Olympics are over. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is the new comedy series for NBC, starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe. It will premiere with a two-episode special on Monday, Feb. 23, and then it will move to the 8:30/7:30c timeslot following new episodes of St. Denis Medical when that returns after its Winter Olympic break.
