Karadec will soon be reunited with a mystery woman from his past in the next new episode of High Potential season 2 on ABC, and while we don't know who the character is to Karadec just yet, we know which familiar face will be popping up on our screens playing her.
As confirmed by Deadline, This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson has been set for a recurring role in High Potential season 2. The talented actress will make her debut on the ABC procedural on Tuesday, Jan. 27 in season 2 episode 11, which has been titled "NPC."
The episode's synopsis teases Watson's character and her reconnection with Karadec: "When a former esports champion is mysteriously murdered, both his gaming rival and a sushi chef are under suspicion. Time spent with Elliot unexpectedly provides Morgan with insights on the case. Karadec reconnects with a woman from his past."

High Potential's showrunner Todd Harthan previously teased that season 2 has "some of our biggest and most exciting guest stars" popping up in the second half of the season. Watson definitely fits the bill as an exciting guest star, especially if she's playing who fans might be expecting her to play. If the mystery woman has a connection to Karadec, she could someone we've been waiting to meet.
Karadec has mentioned Lucia, his ex-fiancée, in previous episodes and even revealed that she left him because he was too invested in his job. The fact that ABC is being cagey about who Watson is playing and only describes her as a "woman from his past" could mean that it's possible we're finally going to be meeting Lucia. It would be an opportune moment to bring her into the fold.
Since the series first made its premiere, viewers have been lightly shipping Karadec and Morgan, but between their work and their complicated personal lives, they have kept things professional. But that hasn't stopped fans from wanting the characters to get together. Meeting Karadec's ex would certainly add another layer to his relationship with Morgan and give her further insight into his life.
However, we could be aiming too high with Susan Kelechi Watson's role being Lucia. She could simply be an old friend of Karadec's, a former girlfriend, someone he previously worked with, or even an estranged family member. The possibilities are endless for who she could be playing, but what we do know is that she's somehow very important to Karadec's past at some point in his life.
Watson previously starred in NBC's family drama This Is Us for all six seasons. Following the show's end in 2022, the actress appeared in the Netflix mystery dramedy The Residence and guest starred in the season 2 premiere of ABC's Will Trent. She's making the rounds on the network's Tuesday night lineup. Maybe she'll pop up in RJ Decker next?
