Happy's Place is set to return with its second season on NBC this November, and while that's already good news, we now have even more reason to celebrate. Remember that Reba cameo we've all been waiting for? It’s finally happening!
JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who played Cheyenne on the iconic Reba series, has officially joined season 2 of Happy’s Place as a guest star, reuniting on-screen with Reba McEntire herself. Fans have been hoping for this reunion since Happy's Place was first announced, and while there were some Reba alums to appear in the first season, none sparked as much excitement as Swisher’s return.
In Reba, McEntire and Swisher played mother and daughter, with McEntire as the strong-willed, witty Reba and Swisher as her charming, sometimes mischievous daughter Cheyenne. Well, they won't be sharing this same dynamic in Happy's Place season 2. According to Deadline, Swisher will portray a character named Kenzie. Kenzie is a social media influencer from Knoxville, Tennessee, who has been hired to promote Happy’s Place for an upcoming social media marketing campaign. However, Bobbie (McEntire) is not happy about it.
So it doesn't look like McEntire's character will be too fond of Swisher's character, which will likely lead to plenty of comedic clashes, playful banter, and awkward moments as Bobbie navigates having a flashy, social media-savvy influencer shaking up the dynamics at Happy’s Place.
Besides seeing Swisher reunite with McEntire on screen, this will also be a reunion for Swisher and Melissa Peterman, who portrays Gabby in the NBC comedy sitcom. Peterman portrayed Barbra Jean Hart in Reba. It'll be exciting to see how Swisher and Peterman's characters interact in Happy's Place season 2. Gabby is a bartender at Bobbie's tavern. Will she be open to the whole influencer-style ideas and marketing campaign, or will she be like a skeptical Bobbie? We can't wait to find out when Happy's Place season 2 starts airing on NBC!
Swisher is the latest Reba alum to guest star on the comedy sitcom. Steve Howey and Christopher Rich made guest appearances in season 1, delighting fans with their familiar faces and playful nods to the original Reba series. Howey portrayed Van Montgomery in Reba, while Rich took on the role of Brock Hart, Reba’s ex-husband.
It would've been nice to see them alongside Swisher in season 2, creating an even bigger Reba reunion for fans. However, nothing has been said about them returning. So for now, fans will have to settle for the exciting reunion between Swisher and McEntire, along with the added fun of Swisher sharing the screen again with Peterman.
Happy's Place season 2 is scheduled to premiere on NBC on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT.
