It may have been a little over a month since the airing of the Grey's Anatomy season 21 finale, but we're still trying to process everything that happened. We still can't quite wrap our minds around that major cliffhanger ending that left several characters' fates hanging in the balance after the devastating explosion at Grey Sloan Memorial. The only thing on fans' minds is who survived and who didn’t.

Well, it looks like we aren't the only ones left in suspense. Grey's Anatomy star Camilla Luddington (who plays Dr. Jo Wilson) recently spoke with E! News at the Motion Picture and Television Fund Gala on June 22, and admitted that even she doesn’t know what’s going to happen next season. She basically revealed that showrunner Meg Marinis is keeping the cast completely in the dark about which characters survive the explosive season finale, stating that she has been pressing for answers but still has no clue.

"Oh my god, I don’t know,” Camilla admitted to E! News at the Motion Picture and Television Fund Gala in Los Angeles June 22, noting that she has already pressed showrunner Meg Marinis for intel, adding, “I tried to ask her anything basically because it’s a huge massive explosion of course last season and I still have no idea.”

So, it appears that the show's creative team is being really secretive about what will unfold in Grey's Anatomy season 22 and the fate of key characters. Of course, this leaves both the cast and fans guessing who will make it through the dramatic events of the latest season.

If you recall from the Grey's Anatomy season 21 finale, there were four characters on the OR floor where the explosion took place. They were Bailey (Chandra Wilson), Monica (Natalie Morales), Jules (Adelaide Kane), and Link (Chris Carmack). If Link doesn't make it, this will surely affect Jo deeply.

They've been through so much together, and Link had just found out from Jo that they were expecting twins before the fire broke out. Losing him now would be devastating, not just for Jo, but for fans who have watched their relationship grow over the past few seasons. Jo has experienced enough heartbreak in her life, and watching her face a tragic loss, especially at a time when she should be celebrating new beginnings, would be absolutely gut-wrenching.

But you never know with Grey's Anatomy. The show has a long history of throwing curveballs. Just when you think someone’s safe, tragedy strikes. Until season 22 premieres, all we can do is hold our breath and hope for a happy ending.

Grey's Anatomy season 22 will premiere on ABC this fall. New episodes will air on Thursday nights at 10/9c. With how the previous season wrapped up, fans should definitely brace themselves for a potentially intense and emotional return.
