CBS just gave millions of fans an incredibly important and special reason to tune into the 2025 Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept 14. Obviously, we'll find out who will be winning some of the top honors in the television industry, but we're also getting a long awaited reunion of perhaps the most iconic mother-daughter duo on the small screen. Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are presenting!
The Gilmore Girls reunion will be happening during the Emmy Awards ceremony as the pair who played Lorelai and Rory Gilmore seemingly team up to present one of the night's big awards. Fans have been waiting for Graham and Bledel to reunite, and it's happening just in time to celebrate their beloved show's 25th anniversary, which officially happens on Oct. 5.
Throughout the years, the Emmy Awards have been known to host reunions by beloved casts, with last year's September 2024 ceremony dedicating specific segments to reuniting nearly full casts of some of the small screen's biggest shows, like Grey's Anatomy, Cheers, The West Wing, and more. Graham and Bledel's reunion is certainly unexpected but oh-so welcome!

Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel reuniting at the Emmys
It's no secret that Gilmore Girls fans were holding onto hope that the next reunion would be another season of the series or a follow-up to A Year in the Life of some sort. If you can believe it, the Netflix revival series turns 10 years old in 2026, meaning it's almost been a full decade since we last caught up with the quirky characters of Stars Hollow. But the Emmys aren't the only treat coming up.
In August 2025, a Gilmore Girls documentary film was announced to be in the works in tandem with the show's 25th anniversary this fall. While the doc isn't coming from Warner Bros., which owns the rights to the series, a number of cast members will appear in the film, including Kelly Bishop, Jared Padelecki, Chad Michael Murray, Keiko Agena, and more. Graham and Bledel haven't joined yet.
Graham has been no stranger to Gilmore Girls reunions over the years, having linked up with her TV mom Kelly Bishop multiple times. Most recently, Graham moderated Bishop's book event, appeared with her at a PaleyFest panel, and introduced her at A Chorus Line's 50th anniversary event. Graham's public reunions with Bledel have been less frequent, making the Emmys a real can't-miss.
Since the gang got back together for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in 2016, fans haven't given up hope on another season coming to fruition. Graham and the cast have all expressed interest in returning if creator Amy Sherman-Palladino came up with a story worth telling. Earlier this year, Graham even pitched returning for a reunion Christmas movie to wrap it all up.
The show's 25th anniversary and Graham's upcoming reunion with Bledel will surely send fans into a frenzy of excitement and renewed hope. It's also worth noting that the show's celebrating its anniversary right at the official start of the fall season, the time of the year when everyone begins their annual rewatches. Even if this reunion is all we get, it's still beyond amazing.
The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards air on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and streaming live on Paramount+.
