The best new sitcom of the last year is coming back for season 2 before we know it, and yes, I'm talking about Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. The Young Sheldon spinoff sitcom debuted last fall and quickly proved itself to be a winning comedy in its own right apart from the franchise, thanks to the incredible one-two punch of titular leads Montana Jordan and Emily Osment.
Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 2 kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 16 and picks up after the two-part season 1 finale, which found Mandy keeping the truth about working with an ex-boyfriend from Georgie. When he learns the truth, he's moved to buy Jim's auto shop and go into business with Ruben. It's all leading up to a hilarious season with some big changes in store.
Obviously, Georgie and Mandy will each be weathering some changes in their respective careers, and Jim will be adapting to the sizable lifestyle change that retirement brings, but there's another potential change that fans can look forward to in season 2. CBS dropped first-look photos from the season 2 premiere, and one looks different from all of the others. Check it out below!

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 2 might have an updated opening title sequence
That image of Mandy's immediate family members — Connor (Dougie Baldwin), Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones), and Jim (Will Sasso) — doesn't look at all like the typical style of the multi-cam sitcom. However, it does look like the style of the show's opening title tango sequence.
In the show's opening, Georgie and Mandy each wear unmissable silk garments, Mandy's a striking red dress, and dance the tango around their house at night. It's an obvious metaphor for marriage being like a tango on a ballroom dancefloor and a reference to the idiom "it takes two to tango." Playful hair tosses, kicking teddy bears, and Mandy playfully slapping Georgie all adds up to an unforgettable opening sequence that's unique and inventive for a comedy series.
For the entire first season, Jordan and Osment are the only two series regulars featured in this opening tango sequence, which makes sense since the show is named after their characters. But this new photo released by CBS suggests that Baldwin, Jones, and Sasso have been added into the opening. Could an entirely new opening sequence been filmed for season 2?
Wearing tango-friendly clothing, the trio of fellow series regulars appear to be sitting at table somewhere in the house as Audrey and Jim toast with champagne. The expression on Connor's face looks very much like he's reacting to seeing the couple dancing through their home. CBS didn't release any other photos like this with Georgie and Mandy or even Ruben. It seems like a possible teaser for an exciting surprise and big change to come in the season 2 premiere.
While I don't think the opening sequence of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage needed to be changed since it's perfect and symbolic as is, it's also great to include the rest of the main cast members who make this show funny and special. I'm eager to see if the opening has really been changed and exactly how, but it's surely going to remain a great way to begin each new episode.
Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 2 premieres Thursday, Oct. 16 at 8/7c on CBS.
