It's last call for one of the most classic, fan-favorite, and downright funniest CBS sitcoms on Netflix! That's the downside of great shows coming to Netflix. As much as we wish they could remain on the streaming platform forever, there's usually an expiration date after a short period of time.

So, what's the CBS sitcom that's leaving Netflix very soon? Unfortunately, How I Met Your Mother will be removed from Netflix on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. The last day to watch the show on Netflix is on December 2. If you start now, maybe you could manage to sneak in one last rewatch of all nine seasons, but you might be cutting it close. If you're in the middle of a binge, you better hurry!

How I Met Your Mother was first added to Netflix in June 2024 as part of the streamer's temporary deal with Disney to stream a handful of its library shows for a limited period of time. Popular shows like This Is Us, White Collar, The Resident, Home Improvement, and others were added to Netflix, and some of these have already seen their time on the streamer come and go.

But How I Met Your Mother's removal from Netflix in December 2025 isn't the end of the road for the sitcom on streaming. If you need another HIMYM fix, the complete series remains available to stream on Hulu. If you have a bundle subscription, the series is also accessible to stream on Disney+. On those streamers, you can also watch its offshoot series How I Met Your Father starring Hilary Duff.

This year, How I Met Your Mother celebrated the 20th anniversary of its premiere on CBS as the show first debuted back in September 2005. While the series was a modest hit from the start, it skyrocketed into a pop culture phenomenon following the guest appearance of Britney Spears early in season 3. From there, the world was hooked on the show's romantic mythology.

For those who haven't ever watched an episode of the sitcom, How I Met Your Mother's premise is exactly as the title suggest. Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) tells his children the long and winding story of how he met their mother. The mother reveal doesn't happen until the season 8 finale, and the ninth and final season tackles all of the shocking and polarizing details of their life together.

The main cast also included Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, and Cristin Milioti. Every season features a revolving door of incredible guest stars like Bryan Cranston, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Katie Holmes, Carrie Underwood, and so many more. Half the fun of watching and rewatching is looking for the clues and signs hidden in each episode.

While it's a bummer that the show won't be easily accessible for binge-watching on Netflix anymore, it's comforting to know that we can still catch up with the gang at MacLaren's over on Hulu and Disney+. Don't forget, last call for HIMYM on Netflix is on Dec. 2, 2025.
