Are you as excited as I am for The Simpsons season 37 premiere? It has been a hot minute since we last saw Homer, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, Marge, and the rest of Springfield causing shenanigans, so it's high time that we're updated with the latest. After all, my week doesn't formally begin until I start it with a fresh episode of The Simpsons!
Luckily, fans don't need to wait very long because TV's most hilarious and real family will be back on FOX later this month. The season opener will also feel close to home, as its storyline reflects a current trend that everyone is doing, or at least, thinking about. While I'm not one to follow the trend craze, it's one that I'm familiar with and offers a nostalgic dose.
The Simpsons, yet again, captured it with finesse and perfection, and through the eyes of one of its most sensitive characters. They strive to be one of the most popular students at Springfield Elementary, despite their 'nerdish leanings,' and perhaps, with this new trend occurring, they might be able to achieve that dream. Or, completely backfire.
The Simpsons season 37 is going back to the 1990s!
The 1990s were a big decade for The Simpsons, as the show exploded with its fame, pop culture status, and the FOX Network became a household staple. You couldn't pass anyone on the street or at school without at least one mention of the animated comedy. It was beating the majority of world events, for that's how strong (and still is) The Simpsons were.
Season 37's premiere will be titled "Thrifty Ways To Thieve Your Mother" and will have Lisa at the top of her school's social tier, due to her 'totally buggin' fashions from the 1990s. That decade, especially the latter half, changed how we felt about clothes, and with the pop music boom, that only made them more sought after.
"Thrifty Ways To Thieve Your Mother" will also navigate the "bad side" of wardrobe recycling because when something is fiercely wanted, one will go to any means to be a part of it, even if it brings out their hidden criminal.
And according to the episode's synopsis, that's exactly what might happen!
"When Lisa starts wearing Marge’s vintage clothes from the 90s, she’s welcomed into the school's super-elite fashion club. But as they run out of retro looks, the funky fashionistas become obsessed with getting more…by hook or by crook."
FOX further dropped a few of the images, which only confirms the exciting plot!
Set your clocks for Sept. 28 at 8/7 PM CST, because that's when "Thrifty Ways To Thieve Your Mother" will air on FOX! Fans have been waiting since May, and they only have to wait a few more weeks! And as I mentioned, no week starts properly without The Simpsons.
