Who doesn't love a good crossover event? They're thrilling, unexpected, and bring fan-favorite characters together in ways we've only imagined. And according to one FBI star, a crossover with the franchise’s upcoming CIA spinoff isn’t just a fun idea, it’s something they’re seriously hoping to see happen.

With the parent series, FBI, recently ending its seventh season on CBS and the unfortunate cancellations of two of its spinoffs, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International, fans are in need of something big to get excited about. A crossover with the new CIA-themed series could be just the thing to breathe fresh life into the franchise. While it won't completely diminish the hurt of losing two beloved shows, it could reignite fan passion and set the stage for thrilling new storylines.

Back in early May 2025, FBI star Zeeko Zaki (Omar Adom "OA" Zidan) spoke with TVLine, and not only did he tease what was going to happen in the FBI season 7 finale, but also expressed his enthusiasm for the possibility of a crossover event between FBI and CIA.

He shared that he hopes that the FBI crew gets to interact with the CIA crew and that it would be "really exciting." He also shared his thoughts on how he imagines the new spinoff will be. CIA will see Tom Ellis' CIA agent character team up with an FBI agent. Zaki told TVLine that he can already see the potential conflict and drama that could arise from the two characters coming from different professions.

"You know, it's funny even just learning about how the CIA does their job. I can, you know, already see the conflict and the drama, you know, interacting with both, and him pairing up with an FBI agent." - Zeeko Zaki

Before wrapping up the interview, Zaki shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming spinoff, saying that he knows it's going to be a "really great show." He revealed that he had already gotten an early look at the script, calling it "amazing," and that everyone should be excited about the series.

FBI has already been officially renewed to continue up to its ninth season, meaning the show is guaranteed to be on the network’s schedule through the 2026–2027 TV season. While we don't have an official premiere date for FBI season 8, the police procedural is confirmed to return in fall 2025.

That's when new seasons of FBI typically start airing on CBS, so it doesn't come as a surprise that the eighth season will follow suit and premiere during that time frame. However, viewers can expect a change in the time of when new episodes will air. Instead of airing on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT, FBI season 8 will start airing on Mondays at 9:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. CT. CIA will then air right after at 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT.
