The charming Canadian legal drama Family Law will return to The CW sooner than we thought! Starting on July 23, U.S. fans will get to watch what happens next for Abigail "Abby" Bianchi (Jewel Staite).

It has been quite some time since fans caught up with Family Law as season 3 wrapped its run over a year ago on The CW. If you want to catch up before it returns, you can revisit episodes for free on The CW website and app (with ads).

TVLine shares that the fourth season will consist of 10 episodes, like all three seasons before it, and begins with us catching up with Abigail, whose "home, work and romantic life are up in flames."

During the third season finale, Abby was devastated to discover that her daughter, Sofia, had written a rather devastating essay about her life with an alcoholic mother. Elsewhere, Abby's boyfriend, criminal defense attorney Ben (Benjamin Ayres) relapsed. In her professional life, Abby has been passed over for a chance at equity partnership by her father/boss Harry Svensson (Victor Garber). So, things were left off on a low note and it sounds like the fourth season will follow Abby as she tries to fix things.

The outlet shares that Abby will try to reignite things with Ben, but it might not work out the way she wants it to, but maybe that's not such a bad thing as the synopsis says she will meet "someone new and unexpected."

At the law firm, Abby must make challenging decisions for the betterment of her clients and the firm as a whole. Harry and Joanne (Lauren Holly) are struggling to manage the aftermath of their breakup, and Harry looks to a possible merger with a rival office.

Interestingly, Family Law hasn't actually aired its fourth season in Canada yet, though I imagine that airdate will be announced soon. Film reportedly wrapped this past April. It hasn't been quite as long of a wait between seasons for Canadians, but season 3 did wrap up in March 2024 so it has still been over a year since they've had new episodes. Supposedly, it will air first in Germany, starting on June 2.

The CW has picked up multiple Canadian shows throughout the years. Apart from Family Law, the network is also running the police procedural series Wild Cards starring Vanessa Morgan and Giacomo Gianniotti, a co-production between the stateside network and CBC Television. After season 3 wrapped up in April on The CW, CBC renewed Wild Cards for a third and fourth season, but The CW hasn't announced whether it will air the new seasons yet, however, it seems likely.

In May, TVLine also reported that The CW had picked up the first two seasons of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, which will begin airing during the fall 2025 season.
